Once again Detroit moves the ball Stafford doesn't get the ball in the end zone and special teams losses the game.
This team is pathetic right now. A kick return and punt return TD in each of the last two games is ridiculous.
I really don't understand why they don't punt out of bounds and kick through the end zone. It isn't rocket science.
In 48 years I haven't been this fed up with the Lions. They have the talent and losses to the Vikings and Titans indicate there is something wrong here.
They haven't played more than 1/4 of good football in each game. I don't know what this coaching staff is doing with this team but they better figure it out quick or this will be another lost season. _________________

He hasn't been very good and will be alot cheaper after this season. So they will have more money to burn if they dump some of big money contracts they are paying some of these players.
C. Williams
Avril
Burleson
Peterman or Raiola (the Nagy pickup)
And possibly VandenBosch also although to this point he has been our best DE. I just cant see paying the man that much money at his age. |
Avril had been one of better defenders on entire defense. Not sure why everyone is saying he hasnt played well.
He is easily most consistent out there |
I don't agree that he's been the most consistent but you don't get 10 million dollar contracts for just being consistent. |
Understand but judging is franchise check as measuring stone is not legit either. Obviously Det didnt want to give him 10 mil either in their long term contract talks. That was a business move. _________________

Pretty fair to say with only one exception, nobody on this team deserves that kind of money right now. But Avril has been our best defender out of the bunch. But right now he is just the shinier terd. _________________

Agreed. De's in a 4-3 are paid that money for SACKS. Not for just not sucking.
With the top end talent at DE this year I could see them taking one and letting Avril walk after this season.
My top needs at this point would be
DE- Assuming Avril walks and they have to cut VB
S- They have one legit S on the whole team, and he is always injured.
OL. especially on the interior. I think they have tackles. |

Sorry but 5.3 Yards per play is good for 12th worst.
TOP 12th worst
They have a very underrated defense and a dumbed down offense for Ponder.
He is this years version of Alex Smith from last year. Simplify the offense and live off a good defense.
It works no doubt |
ughhhhhhhh
Did you not see the Vikings/49ers last week?
Ponder was the only reason we won. He played out of his mind.
This week, we just simply needed him to protect the lead. He did his job, plus threw a great pass at the end of the game.
Next week I'd expect a more open pass game. _________________

Yea I saw it. I saw all of them. 3 out of 4 games he was blah. Sorry I lean with the 75% over the 25% as indicator.
Honestly the Jags game was his best. _________________

The only bad game he had this year was week 2.
Week 1 he helped us comeback against Jacksonville in the last seconds of the game. game tieing FG.
Week 2 our offense was lost
Week 3 Ponder played amazing
Week 4 Ponder game managed.
No, he doesn't suck, or need a dumb downed offense. He's just fine _________________

Sorry, I agree with detfan. He sucks. Game management doesn't enter it until the game is put away and he didn't generate any meaningful offence today. _________________

The Vikings didn't try very many down field passes the first 3 weeks. When Michael Jenkins is your best deep threat you tend to keep it short to Harvin. Say whatever you want but Ponder is in the top 5 for completion percentage and QB passer rating. _________________

LOL at Matt Stafford's stats. He has more interceptions than touch downs and averaged like 6.2 yards an attempt today. He's a crappy Brett Favre at best even with Calvin Johnson. I'm surprised he was able to complete 58 percent of his passes. _________________

Which is the DESIGN of the dumbed down offense. Thus my comparison to Alex Smith of last year.
He is also 20th in attempts with a long pass of 29 yards on the season.
Is is a short game manager passing game which will result in high completion percentage.
His long is good for 34th in the NFL.
I am not saying he is a horrible QB but he is NOTHING MORE then a manager all the way around. _________________

This is because he actually throws the ball down the field. They are not afraid to let their QB be more then a manager. _________________

They are also comfortable with him being a turn over machine.
also, weren't Ponder 2 long bombs good for like 100 yards worht of penalty? LOL pretty confident throwing down field. _________________
