| Quote: | Not only did Adrian Peterson return to the field on Sunday just eight months after tearing his ACL in his left knee, but he also passed Robert Smith to become the team’s all-time leading rusher.
After Peterson broke the record, Smith tweeted (@ESPNRobertSmith) “How appropriate! #AD in OT becoming the Vikings all time leading rusher! Congrats man! Happy it was you ” |

it's something the Bad Guy would do, ya know...
congrats to Peterson and also to Smith for his record lasting so long. when Peterson was drafted, Smith said he would break the team record. _________________

I sat Adrian too. Might come back to haunt me this week in a head to head league.
But I'm really happy for him. I said it before, but I see Adrian returning to glory this year, reclaiming his title as the league's best back.
He's just not human.... _________________

That was probably about normal for most drafts IMO.
Congrats to AD. Barring injuries he could go down as an all time great. |

I thought it was ridiculous when everyone was downgrading him to the 3rd-4th rd. I still thought, under no circumstances should he ever drop below the 2nd rd...because even if he didn't play yesterday, he'd still be good for 14-15 weeks. _________________

Adrian Peterson is currently in 57th place of the NFL's career rushing record. who's in 55th place...?
Maurice Jones-Drew.
Emmitt Smith holds 1st place with 18,355 yards over a 14 year career. _________________

And they are both the same age, although MJD has 1 year more experience. _________________

MJD spent his first few years splitting carries, much like Peterson.
One thing going for MJD is his very short, compact frame. You look at Emmitt Smith who had incredible longevity, he had the same type of frame as MJD. I think MJD will be a more effective starter longer, but if Peterson wants to surpass him, he needs to continue to have more elite seasons compared to MJD in their primes. |

And he's only 50 behind Emmitt Smith for the NFL record. _________________

| Emmitt Smith is like the Brett Favre of the RB position. Not a single RB will come close to matching Smith's bulk production simply because of the rare longevity those two demonstrated. May as well throw Jerry Rice in there too. Those three are rare players who sustained amazing production over the course of a ridiculously long career. |
