I actually do not mind this at all. He'll be the backup swing tackle.

Webb is awful as a starter, but he does have a wealth of starting experience. I wonder why Chicago didnt even want him as a backup?

This move probably means the end of the road for Kropog.

Not bad. He should provide OK depth.

Hopefully Jeff Davidson can turn things around for Webb, like he did for Loadholt.

As a swing tackle i like this move but as mentioned above this should be it for Kropog, Good guy to keep as a backup.

Webb looks to be a backup RT at 6-7 330 pounds. At 25 years old, Webb already has 44 career NFL starts out of 46 NFL games. Despite his poor play as starter, that kind of experience should definitely be valuable. Webb was obviously rushed into a starting job that he probably didnt deserve, but with good coaching, maybe he can be a solid backup swing tackle.

Though if anything happens to Kalil, you have to expect that Charlie Johnson would take over at LT.

Tom Pelissero ‏@TomPelissero
People who rip #Vikings picking up Webb don't get it. He has 44 NFL starts, minimum salary of $630K. Better than most 3rd tackle options.

Probably an upgrade over Troy Kropog.

It will be interesting to see who is cut to make room.

Never expected Kropog to make it in the first place, thought they'd keep Kevin Murphy once it became obvious Brandon Keith was a in pass protection at RT.

Klomp, you correctly predicted Kropog would stick. What did you pick up on that everyone else missed? Do you think he'll be cut now for Webb?

Webb suffered from playing on a pass happy team that used consistent 5 and 7 step drops, and he was also, typically, not given much help IIRC.

He's not a world beater by any means, but as a swing tackle, on a running team, I think he's much better than other options out there. He's actually younger than Kropog too.

I remember someone putting up the stats of Webb and Bushrod from last season and there wasn't much separating the two in pass protection. One gave up more sacks but the other gave up more pressures.

I mostly based it on the fact he was on the team last year.

I love the move. Loads of experience and has some raw tools to work with. He's cheap, and he also knows the new Chicago offense, so he can provide good insight into how the Bears pass protections and schemes work. No downside to this move.

It is his attitude that has run him out of Chicago.

He just does not care about football, he has spent 3 years never getting better despite immense physical talent, he takes no pride in what he is doing and spends more time tweeting about McDonalds than he does working.

The reason Cutler shoved him last season is because he just gave up his 2nd sack of the game to Clay Matthews and was laughing on his way back to the bench.

He should be fine as a swing back up, but the Bears wanted to cleanse his losing attitude from a group that has been rebuilt.
