really liked S1, but could have done without the 'he's back' angle.

If the FBI doesn't smarten up this season I'm done watching. They took stupid to new heights in Season 1.

I don't care how they do it, they need James Purefoy back. The show is dead without him. Kevin Bacon can only do so much alone.

Well, if they're wanting to keep me off of public transportation, that's the way to do it.

What's going on? Tonight's episode was supposed to be an hour and a half long, but it was only 45 minutes?

Welp, there are definitely more moles within the FBI.

Excited for S2. I caught some of the newest episode while I was at work but I'm going to watch it uninterrupted sometime tomorrow or before I go to bed.

I thought it was good but still cannot take it seriously. Strictly entertainment value. I like the deranged character the kid from the last season of Dexter played. Very sadistic.

It lasted until 11:30 for me, unless you're excluding commercials (meaning actual show running time), in which case it was probably closer to 45 minutes.

But yeah, Claire's dead, can't say I'm too shocked there.

Kind of a bland, but it was a premiere. It has potential.

Freakin Bodie though. Leaves the drugs in Baltimore, just to get all caught up in a cult.

This show is like a car crash. Outside of Bacon, it has average acting and the writing is God-awful. It's filled with deus ex machina endings, except in nearly every episode. Things are going well? Ooops, this guy's a mole. She's a mole. He's a mole. And Purefoy is not very good in this show. He's an excellent and underrated actor, but his character is written poorly. He's not intimidating, and he's a borderline Bond villain. And yet I continue to watch.

Well, apparently, people on other boards (which I don't think I'm allowed to link to them per FBF rules, I could be wrong, though) are saying Claire might NOT actually be dead and when Weston told Hardy that she didn't make it at the beginning of the S2 premiere episode, it was just to keep her true status a secret in order to keep her safe from Carroll's followers. One given reason for this is (and I'm reading this off of one of my open tabs right now) because Natalie Zea still has yet to appear on the current season of Justified and isn't currently listed as a series regular on that show, so it makes sense why she would want a bigger role on S2 of The Following (beyond the first couple minutes of the premiere episode) and want to eventually come back mid-season or whatever. I don't buy it (she did no promotional work for S2 of TF whatsoever, usually that's a sign he/she's NOT going to be a season regular), but you never know, it's an interesting theory, I guess we'll see what happens. Like Joe at the end of the S1 finale, though, she's dead until they confirm otherwise, which I don't see happening, I could be wrong, though.

And on the subject of the writing (which I don't think anyone denies was downright putrid and even laughable at times in S1), Kevin Williamson said in an interview he learned his lesson from S1 and is going to make a concerted effort to really smarten up the FBI in S2, I guess we'll have to wait and see there as well.

Well, in their defense, the FBI in real life does appear pretty grotesquely incompetent with frightening frequency.
