106 RB Matt Forte**
115 Earl Bennett

In fact look at where he ranks over his career.
Why is he immune to criticism? | #1 b/c he's outperformed every WR drafted above him sans Desean Jackson and Jordy Nelson
#2 He's a #3 WR what kind of #s are you expecting out of him
#3 He has literally been our best WR for the last 3 years, and one of the most reliable over the course of his career.
Just....Stop |
He also has 6 catches for 82 yards this year.... As much as I like Bennett myself, your praise for him seems a little less warranted than Badger's criticism.

This is just like a couple years ago when Bennett was a #2 and Badger pointed out where he stood in the WR rankings, except that Bennett was the 8th most productive #2 in the NFL. _________________

To put a finer point on it, Bennett as a #3 is avg 2 rec 27 yards per game, taken to 16 games is 32 rec 432 yards. Pretty decent for a #3. Especially when #1 is on pace for 85 rec 1141 yards, and #2 is 48 for 702. _________________

A WR does not have to be catching the ball to be productive.
Most routes are decoy routes or are created get a specific WR open, in this case Marshall.
Bennett is also a solid blocker.
What plays did you want Bennett to make on Sunday?
We have more talented players so he is not getting as many targets and touches. _________________ John Fox

The WR corps. is weak. Hester is mainly a P/K returner. Marshall disappears in games. Bennett has very weak numbers.
Remember Devin Aromashodu? He ranks 88 for the Vikings. Higher than Bennett.
2007 Colts
2009 Bears
2010 Vikings
2011 Vikings
2012 Vikings ranked 88 after 3 games
And what are the game planning duties between Tice and Jeremy Bates? Something is out of synch here. _________________ "I have to keep playing so people over 40 will have somebody to root for on Sunday afternoons." George Blanda who played until he was 46 |

I feel the reason for the struggles is because we currently have two different personalities written all over the offence…Tice himself said in the offseason that a lot of what we were doing last year would remain…so the type of protection schemes and horizontal routes that Martz wanted are still in the playbook…the 7 step drops have gone but when you consider the amount of times Jay has had to hold the ball or double clutch because no one is open it’s clear that there are still quite a few long developing routes and plays in the playbook…then you combine that with Tice’s preference of the vertical passing game built off the back of running the ball and keeping the QB upright and you end up with an offence that any set of players would struggle to implement because you are asking them to attack horizontally like Martz used too…be explosive vertically like Tice wants to…be able to run the ball effectively like every team wants too…& keep the QB clean to be able to run all of the above…that’s not even mentioning all the stuff Jeremy Bates has brought with him from Jay’s days in Denver which was a WCO so you could argue there are three different identities & philosophies in this offence…that kind of offence takes years to implement…in fact there are only a few offences in the entire NFL who after years of work can do all of that effectively…it’s not going to happen after 3 games. _________________ Adopt-a-Bear...Adrian Amos |

Superman(DH23) wrote: | Watching PGL on CSN the other day, they asked the question what do you expect the Bears offensive identity to be. Well if I'm the OC w/ our big, strong OL, w/ 1 top 5 RB and another starting quality RB backing him up, and can't pass protect well enough to keep my QB upright for 3 secs, and have a physical defense that takes the ball away and gets after the QB, my answer is quite simple. I want to be a physical offense. I want to come out everygame and punch the defense in the mouth. I want to let my OL beat up on the DL for a bit. I want to let my 2 big physical WRs take advantage of their size mismatches and get physical. Then once the defense has been softened up a bit, I pick my spots to take shots down the field to get explosive. I hope the former OL Coach who is now OC can figure this out. | This is what is so maddening. Few things could be more obvious. |

If Jay Cutler stands a chance to excell on MNF, Bennett needs to prove he is an NFL caliber WR.
Cutler throws to Marshall, his TE's and to Forte. The other WR's need to step up. They are beginning to look like Euro soccer players begging the refs for a card, oops, a flag. | Oh good god, not this trash again, did I stumble back to 2009? | Bennett has totally sucked this year. This cannot be denied. However, this does not mean that he won't excel the rest of the year. This is the year, after a nice new contract, that he has to step up and earn it. So far he does not look like the same player. |
