It depends on how much faith we have in Martin and Yeatman.
I would do the deal as long as Martin can handle LT which i think he can. _________________

If you would have asked me last year it would have been a no.... This year is kind of interesting. We need a Wallace type receiver and with Martin there it could be interesting _________________

Not saying I would or I wouldn't do that deal but ...
I sure as hell doubt Philbin would.
He strikes me as favoring any player with a "lunch pale" mentality like JL vs a Diva WR like Wallace.
I just don't see it.
If he sticks to the GB model we'll be drafting OL with the 1st & 2nd rnd pks a WRs late in the 2nd - 3rd & 4th rnd in 2013.
But, an interesting proposition none the less.

Probably no, but if Ireland/Philbin aren't planning to give Long a huge contract this year - yes. _________________

Throw in Willie Colon and you got yourself a deal. Not straight up. Maybe if you throw in a 2nd rounder and a clause that states we would need to rework his deal to a long term extension that works for both sides. We could end up trading one high priced guy for another. So it doesn't help us on salary. _________________

At this point, we don't have the depth at OT to do a deal like that. If Martin was a 3-yr vet capable of switching sides and we had someone behind him the situation would be different. However, Jake Long is the only solid OT we have at the moment so this deal would cost us too much from a production standpoint.
If we had Martin & ______ at the OT positions I doubt we'd be able to consider putting Tannehill out there so I'd start to think a deal like this would force us to keep (and possibly start) Matt Moore.
The other problem here is that we're not sure on the level of production we'd see from Wallace. He was productive in Pittsburgh but that offense is very good and we're not sure how exactly Wallace would fit. I'm guessing you guys want the speed but I need more than speed if I'm giving away Jake Long.
We just don't have the depth to do a move like this at this juncture and still play some type of competitive football on offense. I shrink in my chair thinking of how bad the protection would be. |

Is it easier to find a receiver than a left tackle? That is a question I do not have the answer but I will say Jake Long is a franchise LT. Wallace is not a franchise WR. To me, he is a complimentary receiver, which is why no one gave up a first round pick for him. I would not do the trade but if they added a 3rd rounder or something to sweeten the pot I would do it. _________________ "Yesterday Is History, Tomorrow Is A Mystery, And Today Is A Gift.
