|
It was the best of times...
It was the worst of times...
Two cities, both alike in unfortunate losing.
One is a downtrodden city known for sports failures and also-rans. In a division with two perennial playoff teams and one super bowl winning dynasty, its been very hard on this team. Though they have famous play makers in the past, including a beloved if unfulfilled Quarterback from the 90's. Despite all the players in the history of the franchise, a Running Back who has had some off the field fame in film is still the most famous. More recently the team found a castoff quarterback to make a big splash and very nearly go to the playoffs, only to miss out, sign an extension and then disappoint.
That city?
Clevuffaloland.
At least its not Detroit.
Who Will Win?
The City Not Named after Grover Cleveland
v.
The City that has no large grazing mid-american herding animals.

Browns win 24-13... for Shurmur to have come out and actually said to the media that the Browns need to win this game (http://www.waitingfornextyear.com/2012/09/shurmur-on-sundays-game-against-buffalo-weve-got-to-win-this-game/), you know it's gotta be all business in that building this week with their focus like a quad-laser beam. And as we all know...
The Browns have been right on the cusp the past two weeks, and I'm betting (/hoping) the message in Berea is "Look jack holes, the defense played spectacular week one. The offense played spectacular week two. If you put those together, there is no way we're being stopped. Their running back has been doing well? Well I've got some big-uglies on the d-line who eat runningbacks for breakfast. Oh, and Trent, remember the guy who said you're average? Yeah, he'll be there this week in person if you want to change his mind. Buffalo is banged up like we are, so there are absolutely no excuses... if you have any as to why you missed a tackle or dropped a ball, you might as well walk out that door right now because I'm not going to let you embarrass your teammates with that nonsense. We've all had slip ups thus far while we were getting our footing, but that's over now... so what say we not just go out there and turn some heads... what say we go out and give those national talking head windbags some serious cases of whiplash!"
...now, I know that isn't exactly Shurmur speak because I didnt use the word "fannie" (I'm not sure I could ever naturally inject that into a conversation) but hopefully you get the point. The Browns need to come out and punch Buffalo in the mouth. Control the clock, get an early score and force Patrick Fitzryan (yes, that was on purpose) to pass. Spiller will get his yards, but we need to keep his impact as minimal as possible. The key to this game (IMO) is the o-line needs to have a game. Create holes, give Weeden enough time as possible, and let Shurmur/Childress execute their game plan.
Now, if you'll excuse me I'm so pumped up I'm going to head down to the Muni and start tailgating a little early... |

it seems like every game we play against the Buffalolz is lulzy. 8-0 snow game, 6-3 first win of the season after a 10 loss start. and all of em in between.
that being said, fatpig's phat prediction : Browns 22 Bills 21
Shurmur grows a pair and goes for 2 at the end to win the game. _________________

24-21 Browns
Benjamin scores a TD on a reverse
Trent scores a rushing TD
Defense picks off Fitzpatrick for a score
Dawson wins it with a field gaol.
Peace!! _________________

I think the Browns pull out their first win of the season this week although I think it will be close, like maybe 20-17 Browns.
Phil's right foot always seems to matter against the Bills so why not again this week. |

did you know the original name for our great city is Cleaveland after Moses Cleaveland but the first "A" was dropped by a news paper editor so it would fit better as the main header. it just caught on.
fun fact #2 is it was almost called Cuyahoga but the group of people who discovered it didnt want to, they wanted to name it Cleaveland after their leader
learned those bad boys while taking a class in college called Ohio History _________________

Moses Cleaveland...wait, isn't he the guy that invented Cleveland?
Good luck this week guys, I will be attending the game this week in Cleveland, last time I was there was for the 8-0 Snow Bowl, so hopefully their should be more scoring. If you see a bald guy with a goatee that is wearing a white Ryan Fitzpatrick jersey just please, at least think twice before tossing a beer at him _________________
