What kind of money do you think we'll have to give him when the rookie contract is up?
I was just randomly thinking about this, we've never had a real superstar around like him. I don't know where to begin to guess what the contract would be. |

This is what I'm thinking. If we win the SB in the next 2-3 years, he's going to get the blankest of checks with Mr. Richardson's signature at the bottom.
In all honesty, I think we'll definitely see something in the 10 year/150-160M range. This is considering the typical inflation and the worth that Cam brings to the team. If we were to win a SB or Cam wins an MVP, this could go higher. _________________

| Do you think Cam will still command that type of money if the Panthers for the next few years are hovering around .500 or are "first team out" of the playoffs type of team? I'll say that if Cam can average close to the numbers he had last season he'll easily be a 100 million dollar QB. The Panthers team has to continue to put talent around him to be successful. Plus the defense has to perform week in and week out like they did against the Saints. The Panthers are still one year away from really having a shot to contend. |

| If he keeps this up he'll get paid the highest amount. He's on track to become an elite QB and definitely looks like he's working hard for it. He really improves every player on this offense. |

I think at this rate with inconsistent coaching and a non existent defense, cam idk how he would even want to re-sign with us _________________

Keeps it up??
2 oassing TDs with 5 interceptions and a fumble?
I would say he fizzles like Jamarcus Russell keeping that up |

You have to sizzle before you can fizzle, Jamarcus never sizzled. _________________

i honestly think it's only a matter of time before cam is in a different uniform. a guy like him who wants to be an icon will never get that chance in charlotte north carolina _________________

That's the one fear I've always had with him. He played much better last year than I was expecting, and I was more than willing to chalk up most of those TOs to being a rookie. He's still young and it's early in his second year, but some of the INTs you look at and just scratch your head.
Still plenty of time to figure it all out, but I've got that lurking fear that the turnover issue is always going to be a fairly major part of his game. _________________

I used to worry about this back pre draft when I noticed the majority of the time he talked about the draft it was about being the number one pick rather than wanting to be apart of the Panthers.
I dont think Cam would big time us like that since this is already his city, that would be more of an NBA thing. |

Newton's comment about becoming an entertainer and an icon was to do with his sponsorship. He established that. Even in Cam's tough games, he's far better than Russell. His picks aren't him throwing bad balls. It's him making boneheaded decisions. And when his offensive coordinator ditches the running game and his offensive line isn't playing well, what do you expect out of a young QB against the Super Bowl champions?
I'm not defending Newton's performance in the least. He looked bad in the second half. Ugly. But it isn't time to overreact or panic. He looked terrific against New Orleans and outside of the two picks (and I still don't think the 1st one was all that bad), looked really good against Tampa. He still has a 63.9%, leads the league in Y/A, Y/C, and NY/A.
Cam still has a lot to improve on but I'm not ready to panic just yet. |
