And just for comparison, here is Rodgers vs the Bears since becoming the starting QB.
229/335, 68.4%, 2523 yards, 7.53 YPA, 17 TD, 8 INT, 15 sacks 97.4 QBR |
even more, Cutler's been passable at Soldier, with 5 tds and 6 interceptions.
It's his 2 TDs to 10 interceptions and a completion percentage under 50% at Lambeau that is more embarrassing. |
5 TDs and 6 INTs is not passable. That is horrible. The 2:10 ratio is beyond horrible, but it doesn't mean 5:6 is passable by comparison.

Eh. Even if I try, I just can't really get all that upset or indignant about this. Chuck was draped around his ankles after their part of the play was over. Jay's just giving him a li'l shove. _________________

I think that we should just give Matthews a half of a gap and let him run wild all year. _________________

With my newly acquired NFL Rewind (that's right, joined the club), I noticed on some plays Walden would forgo contact with the right tackle, and actually try to juke him out and get past him (obviously failing on every attempt). Is that just Walden being stupid or is that actually in the play design? _________________

| Does anyone think we used a day of game-planning the week before the 49ers game to prepare for this Bears game? |

I definitely thought that after the 49ers game, but people laughed at me. _________________

Green Bay didn't "look ahead" to Chicago in the sense that they put off their game against San Francisco. They game planned for both throughout the preseason and that's widely noted. But to say they looked ahead is a bit misguided.
In essence, they didn't lose because they had their focus elsewhere. They lost because they played like balls and San Francisco shut them down. _________________

| Only reason Woodson was where he was when Cutler gave him the leg shove was because Woodson had made a dive to try and bat down the pass. Cutler was never in danger of having his legs taken out but that's the kind of player he is. |

A couple notes from watching the game again.
- I would really like to see Brad Jones or Jamari Lattimore come in for DJ Smith in for coverage purposes. DJ was bad in coverage vs Davis (TD, catch, and a PI) and Forte.
- Benson looked really good on plays where he didn't have to go up the middle. Stretch plays worked extremely well.
- The tackles for us started awful. Newhouse got better, but he still gave up two sacks (Peppers and McClellin) and Bulaga gave up one (Melton).
- Our specialists (Masthay and Crosby) had fantastic games. Masthay had two punts that could of been better (out of bounds at the 20, Hester return where Kuhn lit him up). The rest were very good. Crosby was perfect on KO's and field goals. Even his squibb kick in the 3rd or 4th was great almost coming to a stop at the 10 yard line.
- The Dline did a good job not allowing running lanes. When we faced the 49ers, they were just too physical. They brought in Jumbo sets with 2 extra lineman and we were outmatched in base.
- McMillian looked good. Didn't see any poor coverage from him and he got up in the run game. Needs to work on his hands though. Should of had two picks, but he should of been credited with none.
- Rodgers needs to get his head out of his [inappropriate/removed]. There were times where he ran out of time and should of either thrown it away or dumped it off and instead took a sack. He is also too in love with the big play right now. He needs to start working with what the defense gives him and do a better job of pre-snap reads.
-FOR THE LOVE OF LOMBARDI, MCCARTHY NEEDS TO TAKE EVERY RUN PLAY FOR KUHN OUT OF THE PLAYBOOK. I understand he was a decent runner when we lost Grant in 2010. I don't care. Stop rewarding him with carries. He needs to block and be a safety valve for Rodgers. That's it for offense for him.
- Would like to see more DJ Williams in the passing game, especially coming out of the backfield from the H-Back slot. Have Cobb and DJ lined up in an I Formation with two WR and another TE. I'd have no problem handing it off to either of them, leaking them both out in pass routes, etc. So many possibilities.
- This team will be better with Q and Neal back. Merling is the easy cut for Neal. For Q, I'm not sure who I cut. Either Boykin or Taylor me thinks.
- I saw Shields actually get into the muck in the run game. Good to see him actually getting in there and trying to tackle.
That's all for now. _________________

I'm excited to see what Neal can bring to the table in the form of pass rush.
Smith needs to be subbed in dime packages. I agree with your analysis of his coverage deficiencies.
Benson looked much better off tackle than inside the line in my opinion.
I would LOVE to see more DJ Williams. Absolutely no doubt on that one. Looked natural catching the ball and has some wiggle to him. Would enjoy him in the backfield with Cobb. I hope to see more of him soon. He'll hold onto the ball, too!
Any opinions on Daniels/Worthy? I thought Daniels was exceptional for his first action and definitely brought something extra to the interior pass rush, which was our major weakness in my opinion. Capers also moved Raji around fairly often which was nice. He played damn good in both facets of the game. _________________

But to be fair these are two tough defenses but he has been missing open WR's, think back to the preseason Cleveland game, missed Nelson wide open in the endzone. We don't need him to be perfect now, but he has to start turning it on for sure mid season and through the playoffs hopefully. He has just missed throws I have never seen him miss. Q and Neal have me excited. I for one love the attitude Q brings to the table when he is blocking. And he is a more athletic than Crabtree, I say you cut Boykin instead of Taylor, Taylor is a quality ST'er. I was really worried about Shields playing in this game, going against Alshon who has a huge size advantage, and trying to tackle Forte/Bush. I thought it was going to be a nightmare. Shields brought his hard hat and came to work! Still think he has the potential to be a top tier M2M corner especially with those ball skills, he just doesn't really fit into zone though. |

Worthy looked alright. His one sack was a coverage sack. Held up better than I thought he would in the run game though. I didn't see Daniels at all. Need to rewatch and look for him specifically. Maybe turn on the coaches film. Raji had a nice game indeed. _________________

McGinn had Daniels with 2 1/2 pressures including his first sack in only 15 snaps. I haven't re-watched the game myself to check him out. |
