|
|
|
Teams: Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals
Date: September 9th, 2012
Time: 4:25 PM Eastern Standard Time
Location: University of Phoenix Stadium, Glendale, Arizona
TV: FOX
Radio: Sirius Channell 92
It's time, the real deal. The games count for real now.
Seahawks fans seem to think they're going to walk through this one. In order to make them eat their words, the defense has to play disciplined football to contain Russell Wilson and for god sakes, wrap up.
Running the football is likely out best bet, even though the Seahawks run defense was stout last season. _________________

I don't feel confident given the nature of our o-line. BUT, this game is far from a walkthrough. _________________

Special teams could again be a deciding factor. Hopefully we can continue to make plays on those units. _________________

Cam Newton ring any bells? That guy killed us in his first NFL game and Wilson has been way more impressive than Newton was in preseason last year. |

The key for Skelton is to avoid doing what he did this preseason: Moving the team right along before making the big mistake.
He's got to make better decisions with the football. _________________

I'll just repost my thoughts from our thread
| Quote: | | Not to stir the pot (but to stir the pot) i doubt we win by as much as you guys think. They may struggle on offense, but that doesn mean their defense isn't still a top 15 unit at its worst. I'd be suprised if we got much more than 20-24 in this game. Actually, i'd be willing to bet we dont surpass 28 in this game and i'm 90% sure we don't get there. I do think our D will hold them to the teens or less, but that doesn mean we are just going to light up the scoreboard. The most points scored against AZ last year was 34, we're not passing that coming out week one IMO. It's not doubting the seahawks, as much as it is respecting our opponent. Lets not get carried away |

Keys will be in Skelton's hands.
I have no doubt our defense is going to be good and limit the Hawks possessions and chances to score.
Seeing what effect Ryan Williams/Beanie Wells can have on the Hawks D will be a good deciding factor. If they can gash through the D, it will give Skelton better looks when it comes to throwing the ball.
He has to make better decisions and can't keep making those across the body throws that he has a habit of doing on the run/under pressure. Hawks secondary is pretty good and will pick those off easily.
The game is winnable and the season is not lost, but it's up to the offense to protect the QB and for Skelton to move the chains making sound decisions.
All he has to do is basically be Alex Smith last year and manage the games.. make a few deep passes and convert some key 3rd downs. Defense/special teams will do a lot of the rest. |

While an official injury report won't be released until Wednesday, Kent Somers noted that everybody seemed to do at least a little bit of work in today's open portion of practice. _________________

I don't feel we win this game, but I don't think our defense will let us down. I think our defense will give up less than 20 points, but would not be surprised if the Seattle D scored points themselves. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

First down penalties on offense simply must be avoided. We cannot put this offense in 1st and 15/1st and 20 scenarios against this Seahawks defense. _________________
