a great deal of discussion is going on now, and will continue of course, about drafting a QB in this April's 2014 NFL Draft.

trade up for a blue chipper...?
develop a mid round guy...?

hopefully we come up aces with whoever we choose, but if this is the class that cannot produce a bonafide, multi-year starter for us, can the next year's class? is it better?

who are those likely to declare in 2015 out there that NFL fans will be talking about a year from now?

The big wildcard is Jameis Winston. If he declares, I would rank him #1 overall based on what I've seen so far. Right now I can't see him falling apart against Auburn or anytime next year so don't be surprised if several NFL teams try and go "Winless for Winston" next season.

No team will intentionally lose games to acquire the first pick. Certainly, the colts didn't purposely shut down Manning during the suck for luck media sensation.

Winston will receive similar hype and deservingly so. He seems inline to be a better prospect then Bridgewater.

Mariota is obviously another guy to look at.

The 1st round potential guys right now would be

Winston
Bridgewater*
Hundley*
Mariota
Bortles*
Petty
Manziel*

*if they don't declare

I'm of the opinion that if Bridgewater and Bortles/Carr aren't there for us in the first we should go BDPA and take a couple developmental guys to fight behind Cassel for the year. If we used a couple of our 3rd-5ths on guys like Mett, McCarron, Garappolo, Murray, Boyd, Mathews, etc. we could get lucky like Seattle or Philly with a gem. We need to start devoting resources to acquiring a QB. Whether that means trading up for a blue chip prospect or playing the numbers game and drafting 1 or 2 "upside" guys every year until we hit the home run doesn't matter, all that matters is that we get a legit QB in Minnesota.
