hardly a ringing endorsement, when you think about it.

No, but he's better than Jefferson and Sherels as a pure CB, maybe even Robinson.

Are the Buffalo Bills ready to move on from safety Jairus Byrd? He hasn't played this season because of a foot injury, and apparently he isn't in the team's long-term plans after an ugly offseason contract standoff.

The Buffalo News reported last month that Byrd wants out of town, and ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Sunday that the Bills might be willing to accommodate him. Schefter was told Buffalo understands that the wisest course of action is to trade Byrd, and they are, indeed, open to dealing him, according to sources. Schefter was told that trade talks are ongoing.

If we could pair Byrd up next to Harrison, We would have the best pair of safeties in the league.

Does Byrd adequately fit a Cover 2 defense, that is my first concern? Darren Sharper was always a ball hawk at FS but was dreadful when asked to play Cover 2.

Antoine Bethea will be a UFA. He is a little older but played under Alan Williams.

I have always been a big fan of Bethea, id welcome him here given his experience with this defense. He is having a good year though, so i am not sure how willing Indy would be to let him walk. Smith and Bethea would be an awesome duo to have as well and probably a better fit.

#Vikings had been in contact with Winfield last week, but didn't sound like minimum deal would get it done. Cap gymnastics even tougher now.

Any cap space that we can create. Guion? Carlson? Jefferson?

Hopefully Carlson. Adding Winfield would significantly help our team out.

Based on the number of snaps he's seen, I can't see cutting Carlson. The coaches seem to love him.

Also if the offense decides to tailor the offense to Freeman's strengths, then we would see less of the 22 personnel. That would make Carlson more expendable than he already is.

Signing Freeman virtually assures Winfield wouldn't be coming in. Freeman's contract basically takes up the rest of the cap space that they had. The only real easy way to free up more space would be to renegotiate Adrian's contract.

Or Jared Allen, he needs a long term deal anyway.

The Vikings are 30th in the NFL in total defense (430.8 yards allowed per game) and 29th against the pass (326.0).

Greenway: “We have enough stuff to worry about so we’re not going to try to let any of this become a distraction. We’re 1-3 for a reason, a lot of things that we can clean up defensively. We need to focus on that.”
