Wow how Robert Woods has fallen and Margus Hunt has risen. First of all Walter had us passing on Shariff Floyd in favor of Hunt. Secondly wasn't Robert Woods picked by a lot of people to go top 5 in the 2013 draft right after the 2012 draft? I think he still has that talent but if his injuries make him drop to round 3 at our first 3rd round pick wouldn't be the first time we picked a player on offense with a bad injury history in college in the 3rd round and that worked well. |
Hunt has been very underwhelming at the Senior Bowl pratices. My opinion of him is that he is late round talent at this point. He might fair better as a 5-Tech but he's inabilty to get off blocks is alarming.
Woods I'm iffy on as well. Decent tape but I like guys like Justin Hunter and Corey Fuller a lot more. As a 3rd rounder, he would be decent value though. | Hunt has gotten severely overrated the last couple months. He has some skills to work with but he's not the next JJ Watt as some are making him out to be. He'll need to add some weight and work on his technique. I think he's a late 2nd rd to early 3rd rd prospect. _________________ I love me some 49ers, Michigan, and my Lakers.

Agreed, I'm not a Hunt fan to start with, but his name should not be mentioned in the same sentence as the first round. After this post that is _________________ saintsfan on the sig

No complaints from me |
Don't believe it. Since when do we give out info...especially this early? Another Stanford guy we love... |
Just something to note, definitely not reading into it much this early _________________

Apparently destroying a true freshman tackle gets you a first round grade now. I don't want Hunt near this team. _________________

I could actually see us taking hunt, maybe not in the first, but then again, baalke has never been shy about drafting a guy when he wants to. He's a big, physical specimen, and we know the niners like that. Also, we have a tendency to draft high potential guys. He fits a lot of ways into the niners draft philosophy the last couple of years. Add to that the fact that harbaugh may feel like he doesn't need to play right now this first year, and if they think they have their very own JPP, I could easily see us snatching him up _________________

These are the guys who I want from the upcoming draft.
1. Sharrif Floyd/Datone Jones/Cordarrele Patterson (Either of these guys with our 1st)
2. Phillip Thomas (Extremely high on this guy, just an overall playmaker)
3. Brandon Williams (I really doubt he drops this far, but we can all hope)
3. Leon McFadden (Has had a good Senior Bowl, another wishful thinking pick)
4. Levine Toilolo (Big body red zone threat)
I could see all these guys been big contributers for the squad next year. _________________

The thing is, he's probably going to test very well at the Combine, which will make teams overdraft him. To me, there are a few instances where you let measureables sway you on a prospect. But nothing is more important than a player's tape or what your own eyes tell you when you've watched said player. Hunt to me is a project at this point. He's going to need a lot of technique-driven coaching at the next level, as well as improving his base. He couldn't anchor to save his life when I watched him this week. Same thing with Ansah, who looks like a fish out of water as 4-3 DE. Everybody was saying he was the next JPP. Honestly, I would probably let him shed a few pounds and stand him up as rush OLB in a 3-4. I think ppl are trying to make him play in-line, along a even front when he should probably play more on the along the edge. But both those guys will probably get overdrafted because they'll probably test very well at the Combine but both are very raw. But one thing about Ansah, his tape is pretty good so is it just a matter of him looking bad this week or with what they're asking him to do? That's the kind of stuff you have to decipher before the Combine rolls around. _________________

I hesitate to say this... (cough.. Bowman) but my initial thought is "poor fit" for our 3-4 defense. Good 4th rounder for a team needing a speedy WLB. He's not really on my radar, so to speak. _________________

Coming from somebody that has watched more Leveon Bell than anybody in the 49er forum you would not be disappointed with Bell. He would replace Anthony Dixon in a heartbeat. Runs tougher than Dixon and is more agile then Dixon. I know this is a highlight tape and its lame to try and prove a point through a highlight tape but the dude is big and he's a special runner.

Guy was a 2 star recruit coming out of high school and plays with an extreme chip on his shoulder. Very tough runner that MSU relied on. He can carry the load and would be a great back to have with Hunter and Lamike in the future. I wont come in here and say I know a lot of the other RB's in the draft but coming from the B1G IMO Bell is the best. _________________

I agree on Bell. He's the kind of big back we've been missing. Having said that we already have a log jam at RB when Hunter gets well again. I've always liked Hunter, even had him in some of my mocks, but I like James more. And I think Dixon is just "another body" for us. I'd be happy to draft Bell to replace Dixon and if we think as much of him as I do, maybe we could even trade Hunter for a 4th or 5th and have Gore, James and Bell as our RBs. _________________

He is definitely a player that excels in coverage, but leaves a lot to be desired in his tackling and angles in run support. He reminds me of Dashon a couple years ago when he made a lot of plays but went for the big hit too often and missed.
Overall though he would be a great coverage safety who can come in on third downs and eventually start after a couple of years. _________________
