I've had multiple arguments around here on the McClellin vs Chandler Jones debate, the only answer I've ever received from those people was "Clearly Emery felt McClellin was a better fit for this defense" I don't think it was ever a question who the better football player was, and that's Jones. Seems a bit contradictory to me, I'm going to go in depth on Emerys draft strategies after one season but this Draft really is important fh to figure out exactly how Emery works during the draft process. | McClellin was a better scheme fit and a better football player. Jones was considered to have higher upside. |
I'm not one of the McClellin defenders, I had a late 1st round grade on Jones and a 2nd round grade on McClellin, but one thing I have always considered to be a possibility is that the Bears considered Jones injury prone. He was hurt every year in college and sure enough after his hot start with the Pats this year he missed time and was less effective later in the year. |

| Quote: | Tim Jennings - DB - Bears
Bears RCB Tim Jennings triggered an escalator in his contract, raising his 2013 salary from $3.25 million to $4.25 million.
Jennings had a career year in 2012, swatting away 21 passes and racking up a league-best nine interceptions. Jennings graded out as Pro Football Focus' No. 9 corner in the NFL, five spots behind teammate Charles Tillman. The 29-year-old is entering the final year of his contract. |
Would that count against our salary cap? The extra million? _________________ Martellus Bennet highlight video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lP8fHN53t0 |

...really, none of you are reading his book? You guys are missing out on a first-hand perspective of his coaching style and philosophies. _________________

Love seeing this:
| Quote: | | @ESPNChiBears: #Bears WR Brandon Marshall tells @WaddleandSilvy that he'll begin training with 2nd year wideout Alshon Jeffery on Monday in South Florida. |

Agreed, and kudos to Marshall for taking on that mentor role.
A lot of people questioned Alshon's desire during the draft process last year but everything I have seen from him since he was drafted and really since he declared for the draft suggests that not only does he want to be a great player, but that he will put in the work to become a great player. To me that's really exciting because his potential upside is HUGE. _________________

I was one of the loudest voice of that and I think the fact he fell to the 2nd shows that a lot of NFL FOs felt the same but it if he is training with Marshall you know he is going to be in shape coming into next season…he is proving us all wrong and that is a good thing on this occasion. |

Agreed, and as much as being in shape I think Marshall can teach him a lot with regard to technique for getting open as a bigger non-speed receiver. I know Marshall is a film junkie too who watches a lot of other top receivers and tries to learn from what they do that makes them successful, and I would expect that they will do a lot of watching this offseason in addition to the physical work. _________________

Excellent for a guy who was said to have a sense of entitlement this time last year. _________________

| Quote: | Brandon Marshall plans to take 2012 second-round pick Alshon Jeffery under his wing this offseason, training with Jeffery in South Florida.
"I'm excited because this kid has the potential to be an All-Pro one year," Marshall said. "If he just changes some little things, the way he approaches the game as far as physically and mentally, he's going to be a beast. Because he has that dog in him, he has that in him, that you want in a receiver." The Bears are desperate for a complementary receiver to emerge opposite Marshall. |
| Quote: | ESPN's Steve Young -- whose offensive coordinator in 1995 and 1996 was new Bears coach Marc Trestman -- believes Jay Cutler is capable of achieving "greatness" under Trestman's tutelage.
Young led the NFL in completion rate in both years under Trestman, compiling a 34:17 TD-to-INT ratio and 17-6 record with seven more touchdowns rushing. "He'll emerge as a much more disciplined quarterback," Young predicted of Cutler. "He's already good, and he'll be great. ... If you run (the offense) right they'll be shocked how much easier it is. How much more room there is to run." |
