No joke, Millen wanted Russell and only settled for Calvin because JaMarcus was off the board. Thank the gods Al Davis took him first. He saved Detroit from another massive Millen mistake.
IIRC, Kiper and others hated the Calvin pick and were suggesting the Lions trade down for Brady Quinn since we missed out on Russell. Oh, the failure was strong in that draft.

His heart was in Detroit. It stopped beating the moment he was traded. There was that infamous quote about how he ripped the Cowboys organization for not having the heart that the Lions organization did.
After CJ arrived and his role with the Lions diminished he wanted out. He was thrilled by the trade to Dallas because that was the team he cheered for growing up and he had the opportunity to return home. _________________

Williams had supreme talent, which he was able to coast by on in college. Then he faced real competition in the pros and floundered. His biggest accomplishment as a pro was mercilessly hazing rookie receivers.
It's a testament to his talent that he was able to mail it in for a number of years and continue getting paychecks. Oh, what could have been if he had actually committed himself to the game... _________________
