Sounds like we got an OT
Not confirmed yet of coarse.
"OT Willie Smith started three games for the Redskins last season. He is 6-foot-6 and 310 pounds." |

| Quote: | Up first, Jason Pierre-Paul. He had 16.5 sacks last season.
Then it was Jared Allen, who had 22 sacks last season.
Last it was Trent Cole, who had 11 sacks last season.
Smith was forced to “get good” in a hurry, head coach Mike Shanahan said.
“It’s a great opportunity for him to compete against the best and it’s a good evaluation for us to see how he can do for next year and years to come,” Shanahan added.
Pierre-Paul, Allen and Cole each recorded one sack against the Redskins, although Pierre-Paul’s was not Smith’s fault since he had a different blocking assignment on the play. |

| Quote: | | What’s next: I expect the Raiders to be very busy in the next few days. Depth is a big problem because of a salary-cap issue and a lack of draft picks the past two years. The Raiders’ lack of depth was a serious problem in the preseason. I think the Raiders could use help at running back, tight end, the offensive line, and linebacker and in the secondary. Yes, they could be busy. Among the players Oakland could look at include Rock Cartwright, Tim Hightower, Joselio Hanson, Justin Miller and Chris Cooley. Oakland could also be on the lookout for a pass-rusher. It worked out Andre Carter recently, but he reportedly isn’t healthy enough to sign anywhere. |

Seems like Redskins fan were surprised that Smith was cut. They seemed to like him. seems like a solid pick up. _________________

Yes and Shanahan likes the zone blocking scheme, so this guy has some experience. Should move ahead of Barksdale. _________________

| Read he is relativley new to the position as well. Started as Defensive guy. Replaces Nix on this roster I would assume since Barksdale can play G and T. |

Well stats can be deceiving, because he was overwhelmed in those games, particularly against JPP. For all of Sexy Rexy's negatives, he has a quick release and it helped a great deal when Willie was in there.
I think he has potential as a primary reserve tackle, and I was convinced the team would keep him. He was definitely one of the surprises last year and did not look like an UDFA.
Hope he does well for you guys. _________________

Clayton tallied 31 tackles in 14 games last season. The large majority of his snaps in Oakland should come on special teams. |

You have to wonder at this point who's getting cut to make room. Part of me wants to think the reason we kept 5 DT's and 6 CB's is because some of them are waiting for their papers once we hit the waiver wire. _________________ Bah-Weep-Granah-Weep-Nini-Bong

He would likely play in nickel packages as well. Probably our best coverage LB now. He did that some in Philly.

Good in coverage, decent special teamer, pretty awful against the run. |
