63 called pass plays (56 attempts and 7 Vick runs), 23 called runs (20 Shady, 2 Brown, 1 DeSean).

When will Marty and Andy ever learn?

Its a joke, especially considering that the Eagles are 6-1 all time when Shady runs for 100 yards in a game.

Correlation ≠ causation.

The fact that we run shady to get 100 yards means that he is getting the football. By doing this it runs clock and keeps the defense off the field. It also forces the opposing defense to honor the running game and thus, it opens up the play action passing game, thus opening up the big passes which we try way too often without a running game, opening up the entire offense. Thus correlation = causation in this case.

We're not winning because we're running, we're running because we're winning.

But that is the fundamental problem. A team needs to run the ball to win. A good running game helps the passing game and voila, we have a successful offense. When we go all out pass and it's clearly not working (4 picks) freaking run the ball.

To AR's credit we pass to wear out the DL its alot easier blocking with undersized OL when the DL is gassed. Granted I wished he'd sprinkle some more run in early so the D isn't tee'n off for 4 qtrs.

I'm one of the biggest AR defenders and I don't think what you're saying is true.

Our failure to extend long drives (a result of not having the run) has given opposing defenses ample rest. Every time we have a 3-and-out it's just giving the defense a break. Every turnover is also putting the opposing defense on their asses.

Running the ball wears the defense out. The same defenders are tackling 2 or 3 different ball carriers. The backs can handle it, they split the carries. The defenders are out there trying to stop them, plus trying to chase down Michael Vick.

A strong running game is good for the offense, good for the passing offense too. A passing offense needs to be able to run the ball.

Andy Reid tries to pass no matter what, even when your QB is throwing 4, nearly 5 picks to lose the game.

Do you know why Cleveland's linebackers were in coverage with the safeties? They knew we wouldn't run (thanks to Shurmur and Childress, and a decade of the same patterns) and the Eagles failed to adjust.

They want to send D'Qwell Jackson 20 yards off the line of scrimmage in pass coverage? Run the ball up the gut until he stop doing it.

Then pass the ball over top.

Instead, Andy Reid and Vick pass it right to his face.

I agree that we need to run more but I'm still in belief that's their logic.

Good:
-88 plays! on 16 drives
-35 min time of possession
-24 first downs and .

Bad:
-Four 3 and outs.
-6 offensive penalties, most in the 1st half.
-(-1) on TO margin

Play calling.

With the combination of Vicks fragility, his inability to consistantly go down the field with the short passing game, the big play threats we have on the outside, and what may be the best running back in the NFL it is finally time to see if Andy Reid will adapt. This team is good enough to win off the defense, making McCoy the centerpiece of this offense will take a absurd amount of punishment off Vick while also opening the door for more success on the deep passes and open lanes for Vick to run with. Andy has to realize that an offense can never be consistent without running the ball if the short passing game of your quarterback is as weak as Vick's is. Especially when the offense is looking as inept as it did yesterday at the start of the game and all that is happening is Vick getting plastered every 2 plays.

The Defense played the Browns....lets not overload the hype train just yet. Rookie QB, young WRs, injured RB.

I wonder how or if that affected the gameplan offensively...

They were 50/50, I think they were just bad, not terrible.

Weeden's rating, barely...he might break a 6 QB rating...I think if Vick throws 3 quick picks again we'll likely be out of it so we bring Foles in.

Yeh, I'm nervous about the Ravens game. If we played the Ravens of a few years ago, it would be a bloodbath, but now Lewis and Reed are a few years older.

I'm optimistic and hope that Vick just had to knock off some rust and that was the reason we threw the ball so bloody much.

Hopefully the Ravens game tonight can give us an indication on how good they are.
