Russell Wilson is turning out to be a great AND terrible thing for us. He spoiled us a little too much. | Not comparing him to Wilson, but even if you compare him to Tolzein, Tolzein was accurate enough to manage the game.
Stave can't even do that effectively, since he's missed multiple 3rd and medium throws.
He's a RS FR and I'm happy we have him, and I think he should be starting this year over DOB, but he's not a long term solution. |
I agree with this. We are starting to become a pretty big program too. Contending for the Rose bowl yearly is now the norm. It's not the old days when the Capital One bowl was a huge accomplishment. We need a great QB. With Houston ready next year hopefully and Stewart coming the next year, hopefully we have out answer for awhile. _________________

The biggest jump in a college QBs progression usually comes between their second and third year in the program so I doubt we are seeing the best of Joel Stave at this point in time. There's no guarantee that Houston is going to be better (though, as a fan, I hope he's great). We can't write Stave off yet for what someone says, on paper mind you, is a better option until that "better" option proves itself in camp and/or games.
Sure, we can all believe what we want, and I'm not telling you that you can't believe Houston is better, but the fact is, we don't know yet what Houston can do.
I'm actually happy with Stave's play thus far. Sure, he's missed on some throws but what RS Freshman (no matter how talented) hasn't? _________________

Who is Troy Fumagalli and why does 247 say he's committed to us? And if he is, why the hell are we offering a 2* (at best) player a scholarship at this point in time? Why wouldn't we wait? _________________

Pretty sure he is a greyshirt, making him technically a part of your 2014 class. _________________

Any help is appreciated. _________________

I know that we are big favorites for Ball and Shelton and that we are competing likely with Michigan for Vincent but that's pretty much it. |
2013:
Ball - Don't know much about him other than you guys supposedly sit well with him.
Gibbs - Rumors are he likes you guys a bunch, but you might not have room for him. Very unlikely he gets the Michigan offer he wants/wanted.
Shelton - Saw a paywall teaser that he may be getting close to deciding, but not sure if it is legit or just used to generate subscriptions.
Walker - Not sure who he is considering, but I really like him at CB.
2014:
Allen - Not sure about teams, but I believe he wants to decide sometime around DEC/JAN.
Booth - Another who wants to decide after his JR season. Not sure about teams. I believe he is waiting to see if a couple teams offer him.
Garrett - Sounds like an OSU lean. Also likes Oklahoma, MSU, a couple others. Might be a kid who has a "new favorite" frequently.
Hayes - Info is a bit old, but his top 4 is/was Michigan, ND, Rutgers, UGA (no order - all but UGA have offered).
Hilliman - Kid seems quiet. No real feeling, but impressive early offers.
Holmes - Michigan leads. Wants to decide after JR year.
Jones - Not sure, another kid who keeps things quiet. Visiting Michigan for the Illinois game. Gut feeling is he stays somewhere in the Midwest, but that is only me guessing, not based on anything.
McDowell - Michigan will be very tough to beat. Wants to wait a bit to make a decision so he can take some visits.
McMillan - Reportedly a UGA-OSU battle.
Michel - Assume he stays south.
Vincent - Likely a WISC-MICH battle, though a couple other teams could enter the mix as well (not sure who). Kid/family seems to keep things close to the vest though.
Webb - Michigan will be very tough to beat. LSU is the biggest threat to Michigan.
Weisher - Reportedly wide open. Some feel ND may be tough to beat though. _________________

2013
Marcus Ball, ATH (What position are we recruiting him at?) - some type of D-back. Favoring us over ND right now.
Jalen Banks, S - Top 3 of Oregon, Vandy and UW. His dad is steering him towards UW, but Franklin is keeping Vandy in it.
Tyler Foreman, S - No idea.
Kenton Gibbs, DT - We don't have room for him realistically.
Boaz Joseph, CB - Kentucky, Purdue, and Wisconsin are in on him. Unsure of where he's leaning.
David Knevel, OT (My god he's huge) - Nebraska and Wisconsin likely lead. And yes, he'd be an awesome get.
Monty Nelson, DT - Not coming here. MSU lean I believe.
Stacy Thomas, DE - Not coming here.
Sojourn Shelton, CB - Deciding whether to even visit Nebraska or just commit to UW. He's basically a lock at this point.
Cameron Walker, CB - Top 3 of Boise, Cal, and UW. Distance is a concern, but Walker will take an official to UW at some point.
2014
Brian Allen, C - Top 5 of Illinois, OSU, UW, MSU, and UM. Good player.
Drew Barker, QB - South Carolina lean. We got Chance so NBD.
Tinashe Bere, ILB - No idea.
Dominique Booth, WR - OSU lean I believe. Either way UW is a long shot.
Khairi Clark, DT - Miami lean but says he will visit UW. We aren't getting him though, even if it is fun to dream about.
Mason Cole, OT - UM, OSU, Florida, and ND I believe are out front.
Jamitreus Crockham, RB - No idea.
Duke Dawson, CB - No idea.
Clifton Garrett, OLB - MSU, OSU, OU, UW are in that order I believe. Will visit for both the MSU and OSU games. Outside shot.
Jay Hayes, DT - No idea.
Jonathan Hilliman, RB - Offers from a ton of places, interest from just about everyone. Says he really likes Hammock.
Corey Holmes, WR - Florida offered and UW is going to be out of it for all intents and purposes.
Justin Jackson, RB - Visited this weekend, UW didn't offer. Still high on us though.
Jamarco Jones, OT - Will visit for MSU or OSU (forget which). I believe OSU, UW, UM, and ND are out front.
Jeff Jones, RB - Minnesota and UW are out front. Watch out for ND.
Brandon Lee, OLB - No idea.
KC McDermott, OT - Not coming here.
Malik McDowell, DE - UM is out front I believe.
Raekwan McMillan, ILB - Georgia or OSU at this point.
Sony Michel, RB - Not coming here.
Derrin Myers, DT - Kept his recruitment really quiet. Unsure.
Gerald Owens, ATH (Position?) - UW wants him as a FB. Rutgers is out front since distance is an issue, but OSU could get him.
D'Andre Payne, CB - Offers from everywhere, friends with Vincent Jr. and UW hasn't been that interested.
Ross Pierschbacher, OT - Iowa and Wisconsin out front. ND trailing.
Thaddeus Snodgrass, WR - OSU bound IMO.
Kyle Trout, OT - Unsure, still waiting for more major offers.
Troy Vincent, CB (Odds?) - Good odds. UW will be in it until the end with him.
Kobie Walker, S - Really quiet on his recruitment.
Dareian Watkins, ATH - Watkins has visited twice with no offer, and UW keeps jerking him around. Tough to know where he stands now.
Damon Webb, CB - UM bound.
Nic Weishar, TE - ND bound.
Richard Yeargin III, OLB - Loves UW apparently. Getting interest from everywhere but UW was in on him first and that means alot to him.
I know that we are big favorites for Ball and Shelton and that we are competing likely with Michigan for Vincent but that's pretty much it. | List more names. Answers next to each player.

Collins does not commit (this was expected, he's taking all of his visits before making a decision). Said UW made an impression on him. Will visit FSU next week and Miami at some point. _________________

It is.
This year's defense alone has:
2013 DT Kenton Gibbs (offers from Illinois and several others)
2014 MSU LB commit Deon Drake
2014 LB William White (early offer from Toledo)
2014 LB Gary Hosey (will get D1 offers)
2013 Michigan CB commit Jourdan Lewis
2013 Toledo DB Commit
2013 Iowa S commit Delano Hill
2014 CB Damon Webb (offers from Michigan, LSU, OSU, etc.)
a 2015 DL who will be a D1 guy
offense:
2013 Michigan OL commit David Dawson
2013 MSU OL commit Dennis Finley
Lewis, Webb, Hosey, Drake from above play offense
2015 QB Jayru Campbell (early offers from ND, Bama)
Those are just the upperclassman (except for Campbell).
Sure glad it is a Michigan pipeline.
| Quote: | | Mason Cole, OT - UM, OSU, Florida, and ND I believe are out front. |
Michigan and USC are top 2, Michigan likely leads. Has unofficials to both planned (MSU game for Michigan, sometime in NOV for USC). Will likely decide shortly after that. _________________

Thanks both 1King and Rams for the recruiting tidbits. So, knowing what you guys know, are the Badgers looking at a pretty good haul of a 2014 class? I know we already got some big commits but can it get much bigger? How would you describe the 2013 class? _________________
