I'm going with Steve Tasker
  • 7 Pro Bowls
  • 1993 Pro Bowl MVP
  • 7 times PFW first-team All-Conference
  • 5 consecutive times PFW first-team All-NFL
  • 4-time AFC Champion
  • Member of the NFL's All-Time Team
  • Member of the Buffalo Bills Wall of Fame
  • Member of the Buffalo Bills 50th Anniversary Team
  • Member of the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame
  • Pro Football Hall of Fame Semi-Finalist (2004, 2008-2010, 2012)
  • Future Member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame
Steve Tasker was the greatest special teamer to ever play the game. When a pure special teamer is All-Pro five times and makes seven Pro Bowls (MVP of one of them) you know you have someone truly special (no pun intended). He was so highly regarded that he was named to the Pro Bowl as a special teamer in a year when he didn't even play special teams. Despite being double and triple teamed on kick and punt returns he was still always the first to reach the return man or down the ball close to the endzone. He would often be in mid-air ready to make the tackle just as the ball was landing in the returners hands, often causing turnovers. He also had a knack for blocking punts. Tasker had great speed, intelligence and work ethic. When called upon to play receiver Tasker made the most of it. He finished his career with 51 receptions for 779 yards (15.3 average) and 9 touchdowns. He was also good on reverses, kick returns and punt returns. Quarterback Jim Kelly tried to get coach Marv Levy to let Tasker play more at wide receiver, but Levy wanted Tasker to stay on special teams.

Marv Levy wrote:
In eighty-eight years of professional football, there has never been a special teamer to match the prowess and the production of Steve Tasker. There's never been one like him before and you'll never see the likes of him again.

Bill Parcells (to Levy) wrote:
You know who we have to prepare for the most? Steve Tasker.

Bill Polian wrote:
He changed the way special teams are played in the National Football League. That's why I think he's deserving of the Hall of Fame.
