Here is the link to the story.

I thought it painted a pretty good picture of Chris Cooks tenure with the Vikings, and why they made a good decision to be patient with him during the trial.

Its usually better to be patient and understanding than cut throat and impatient. Im glad the Vikes gave Cook another chance to turn his life around, hopefully he will and can develop into the football player that he is capable of becoming.

Cook has a lot of talent, and was beginning to show his abilities last season before his arrest. Hopefully he can come back and play the way that he is capable of, becuase if he does, this team will finally have a cornerback capable of being placed on an island.

Glad he's putting his life back on track.

I don't/can't/never will like what he did to his girlfriend, but with a good mindset, hopefully that will never happen again, and things will continue to get better for him.

He was acquitted on all charges. Of course, you dont want to see him in that position and it is concerning. He will always be on a short leash from this point on, but sometimes its better to forgive and move on then to part ways without giving someone a chance to fix the underlying issue.

Chris Cook's new Twitter handle says all you need to know about his mentality entering his third season with the Minnesota Vikings: Goodbye, @Monsta_20. Hello, @Cook_Isle.

Cook: "My brother kind of talked me into changing my name into that. I just went with it. I liked it a little bit. I feel like I have a lot to prove, not only to myself, but to the organization, to my teammates. I'm just going to go out there and play my assignments and play to the best of my abilities and hopefully, have a good year."

Let's be honest, if they had other options, they would have cut him. There is nothing in their actions that is inherently good at all, this was a football decision, plain and simple.

I'll save my other comments for a conversation over beer....

i don't know, maybe not...

look at Jared Allen and his carousing and 2 or 3 DUI's. he certainly woke up and reformed his character.

i guess what i'm saying is that some people are worth giving the second chances to.

does it really matter at this point.

Cook seems dedicated to making things better, give the guy a chance.

Obviously a 2nd rd pick (well really a 1st rd pick), will be able to get away with more than a 7th rd pick or free agent. a double standard exists, may as well support the guy at this point. If he develops into a good player and a good citizen, will there always be a grudge over this situation? If he blows his second chance, im sure more severe actions will be taken.

It matters to some of us, yes.

As for the good citizen part, I don't know. There is a difference between forgiveness and indifference, and cheering for a person. For me, and I am not implying anyone else should feel this way, for me, I will feel uncomfortable cheering for him at this point.

how do you guys feel Cook did in the Jaguars game?

i noticed he had a few very heads up plays, but also let some receptions take place where he didn't even challenge the receiver.

nice to see him with a sack, that was a gutsy call for Alan Williams to make.

Cook can't be happy with this game. That last minute TD, he just got completely lost. Had a nice sack, but as a CB, you count the negative plays.

He did okay, he was really tested 1 play, gave up the TD, got turned around by following where the WR was looking, and I think more then got turned around didn't find the ball in the air. He should have gotten his hands up better, but in the end no harm no foul as the Vikings win, and I think that he just comes back more determined next week.

Cook did bat a ball down from the hands of Blackmon once, i remember that. which is what he's best known for.

and his sack was great!

I guess he can't be happy in that the Jaguars' two biggest plays were by his man. Other than that,I thought he played well.
