But but but surely pi and r in a square translates to (pi r)^2 -> pi^2 r^2, not pi r^2. _________________

what's the mathematical pun here?
hint: the second letter is in lower case... |
It's missing an exponent or factor of 2.
Where's [UMN] when you need him?
Two options:
formula for circumference needs a product of 2 anyplace in the expression.
formula for area needs an exponent of 2 on the r.
However, this pi(e) isn't round.
Maybe it's meant to exclude the exponent because it's a square shaped baked good?
Maybe it's missing the exponent because it's a misteak(sic)?
I'm perplexed. |
The second symbol looks more like a capital gamma to me.
Anything to do with r makes no sense, it's either gotta be pi r^2, 2pi r, or a spherical formula. |
My late gramma lived near the capitol. She made pies. She got around with the aid of a cane that looked like a capital gamma ( which should have a slightly down-turned piece at the right end).
She made round pies, aldough she might have made square ones.
Circumnavigating halfway round the perimeter of the pie would be pi times r. _________________

Relax everyone, I'm back.
To continue, the argument put forth was that the square pie had the significance of 'squaring' the equation within. Within is contained pi r. If you square that you get pi^2 r^2, which is just a random formula. Pi r^2 is a formula. 2 pi r is. , but not pi^2 r^2.
