From what I've seen, I expect a 9-7 to 10-6 team this year, barring catastrophic injury.
We have good depth, decent talent, a Hall of Fame QB and are well-coached. But we're also young, inexperienced and are under-going a major transition.
The good news is we play in a weak division that features the a Radiers team in transition who lack enough front-line talent, the always under-performing Chargers and a Chiefs team built using the New England model (and we know how well that works sans Tom Brady) thus 10-6 or even 9-7 is likely enough to win the west and get a home playoff game. _________________ big_palooka:

I don't see anything good about our schedule.
Pittsburgh, Atlanta, Houston could easily be 0-3 start for us.
Pats, Saints, Panthers, Ravens could also be problematic.
I see us going 10-6. With losses against: Atlanta, Houston, Pats, Panthers, Ravens, @Chargers.
With that said we could go 9-7 if we clinch by our last game against KC and anyone other than Manning stars. _________________

Like Mile High said,
the first few weeks of the season are key for us. The only games I am certain we absolutely won't lose are against the Raiders. But the Steelers, Falcons, Texans and Patriots game can easily be won by our opponent. With that said, a 2-3/3-2 start to the season would be a success for us. Of the remaining schedule, that leaves us with possible losses against the Bengals, Saints, Ravens, Chiefs, Panthers. Somehow I am not worried about the Chargers. There are always the obvious games a squad can lose and one, two unlucky/strange games which can go wrong, too. So depending on whether one is an optimist or a pessimist, the Broncos can be a 8-8 to 10-6 team.
I consider myself a realist and say: 9-7 _________________

| I agree with the 9-7 10-6 belief. Denver has a tough schedule and I don't think the team is going to immediately click offensively as many expect. Still, I believe Denver has pretty good and well rounded football team and should have a winning record...barring significant injuries. |

I wouldnt be shocked to see this team go 8-8 or 9-7.
With the lack of chemistry between the offense and Manning to start the season, Id doubt we get off to a good start. Looking at our schedule:
HOME vs Pittsburgh W
@ Atlanta L
HOME vs Houston L
HOME vs Oakland W
@ New England L
@ San Diego W
BYE WEEK
HOME vs New Orleans W
@ Cincinnati L
@ Carolina W
HOME vs San Diego W
@ Kansas City L
HOME vs Tampa Bay W
@ Oakland W
@ Baltimore L
HOME vs Cleveland W
HOME vs. Kansas City W
I could EASILY see this team starting 1-5 or 2-4, its all going to depend on how well Manning plays (as if thats ground-breaking news). If this offense can click early then we might have a shot to go into the bye week at 3-3.
I think people are still not giving Manning enough credit. Manning immediately upgrades this offense to one of the best ones on the field every week. We also have a very competent and COMPLIMENTARY defense. This team will be tough to beat if we dont have any big injuries.
Im going to be optimistic and say that Manning and the offense will go on a run after the bye week and rattle off 7 wins in the final 10 games. If we can win 3 of our first 6 (which will be VERY tough), I say we go 10-6 and win the AFC West. _________________

Lol if this were the case id be stoked. My prediction is 11-5 because our secondary was killing us as much as our run D but now our secondary is turning out to be great _________________

two of you have you guys going undefeated in the AFC West? yeah I doubt it.
It's always a good game with Oakland vs. Denver, and considering we're 3-1 the last two years and even beat you in our worst days (Russell, McCown) I'm sure a sweep isn't a guarantee...I like the confidence though. _________________

That time of year! I love this thread!
vs Pittsburgh W - Don't like the Steelers new look offense this early. Rowdy crowd in Denver
@ Atlanta L - Road game against an offense that can really shine.
vs Houston L - Better team top to bottom.
vs Oakland W - Raiders will struggle getting in sync early.
@ New England L - See Texans.
@ San Diego L - Teams are similar, Rivers get his at home.
BYE WEEK
vs New Orleans L - Defense isn't built to compete against Offenses like NO.
@ Cincinnati W - Defense can hold off this offense
@ Carolina W - Not buying the Carolina hype. Denver is the better team.
vs San Diego W - Denver gets them at home.
@ Kansas City L - KC is tough place to win. Their D should cause Peyton fits
vs Tampa Bay W - Denver again, the better team in matchup.
@ Oakland L - Not sweeping the Raiders. They will be settled in by this time.
@ Baltimore L - Giving the home team the advantage here. Would take Denver at home.
vs Cleveland W - It's Cleveland.
vs. Kansas City W - At home, they beat KC.
8-8. Schedule is tough. I see them losing some early games getting settled in. Defense IMO still has holes upfront. The Oline just isn't strong enough for my liking.
If things settle quickly and they get some consistent play on the Oline, they can win 10 games. _________________

10-6 and we win the West and get a home playoff game!
I think this number could be 1 up or 1 down. Possibly winning against Cincy or Atlanta instead of a loss or lossing at Oakland because those division games away are always tough or possibly a loss vs NO at home because of their high powered offense! _________________

This is the game everyone hasnt understood yet.
New Orleans is coming to Denver for Sunday Night Football. Its going to be outside, which means likely chilly weather, and the Saints struggle when playing outside. I actually have this game as an almost-automatic lock for Denver RIGHT NOW. _________________

HOME vs Pittsburgh W - I like our chances at home early
@ Atlanta W - Going out on a limb here but ATL is the paper champs not actual champs
HOME vs Houston L - Houston looks good if healthy
HOME vs Oakland W - Home team gets the win
@ New England L - no explanation needed
@ San Diego L - I will take the home team
BYE WEEK
HOME vs New Orleans L - They are just a better team than us right now
@ Cincinnati W - Its Cincy
@ Carolina W - Its Carolina
HOME vs San Diego W - I'll take the home team
@ Kansas City L - If healthy KC could be deadly
HOME vs Tampa Bay W - Its Tampa
@ Oakland L - We usually split this series
@ Baltimore L - We always seem to play at Baltimore and lose
HOME vs Cleveland W - Its Cleavland
HOME vs. Kansas City W - I don't trust Cassel to sweep Denver
9-7, I think any of us would be happy with 9-7 and a playoff birth. _________________

I disagree with this. I'm not saying we're a lock to win the game or anything, but our defense is built precisely to compete against offenses like New Orleans, New England, Green Bay, etc. We're built to stop passing teams - deep secondary and more than a few players in the front-7 who excel at getting after the QB. Elway and Fox are building this team in the image of the New York Giants.
Now, I'm not sure we are ready to take on the league's elite offenses but to say that we're not built to compete against said offenses is flat out incorrect. _________________ big_palooka:
