The University of Wisconsin Badgers (7-5)
vs.
The University of Nebraska Cornhuskers(10-2)

The Badgers (7-5) are coming off of three straight overtime losses, while Nebraska (10-2, #14 AP) haven't lossed in their last 6 games. The two teams played to a 30-27 Nebraska win in Lincoln, but that was with the Badgers starting Joel 'Cali Locks'/'Rico' Stave. Now, Curt Phillips, who rips his ACL more often than John McCain has heart failure, is the Wisconsin QB. Meanwhile, Taylor Martinez has continued his development as the Nebraska QB, coming up big against Michigan State. Nebraska's defense has been as advertised, allowing only 9 points to Michigan and allowing a combined 21 points the past 2 weeks.

Wisonsin Primer

The Badgers come in having lost 3 winnable games against Michigan State, Ohio State, and Penn State. Scumbag Bret Bielema made very questionable coaching decisions in all 3 games, giving the entire state heart problems that would make Urban Meyer blush.

Key Players
QB - Curt 'One Knee McGee' Phillips
RB - Montee Ball
WR - Jared Abbredaris
TE - Jacob Pederson
LB - Chris Borland
LB - Mike Taylor
DE - David Gilbert

On offense, the Badgers have made Montee Ball the focus since Stave went down. New offensive line coach Bart Miller has gotten the Badgers crew back closer to what you'd expect UW to be up front, so Ball has finally found some room to run. Expect Wisconsin to try and attack Nebraska up front with Ball, then allow Curt Phillips to manage the game with 3rd and shorts, shorter passes, and the occasional longer strike to Abbredaris or Pederson.

On defense, the Badgers are going to have to do everything possible up front to stop the run. This is going to fall on the shoulders of their linebackers - Borland and Taylor are each all B1G caliber players and should rack up the tackles against a Nebraska team with two elite runners (Burkhead and Martinez). The Wisconsin secondary is suspect and UW has had a terrible time generating turnovers, so getting Nebraska into 3rd and longs will be critical.

Wisconsin wins if:
Arrow The defense generates turnovers
Arrow Montee Ball gets steady yardage
Arrow Curt Phillips doesn't have to put the game on his back
Arrow Bret Bielema is not faced with any critical decisions

Nebraska Primer
Courtesy of Bohlmann20.

QB - Taylor Martinez
RB - Rex Burkhead
RB - Ameer Abdullah
WR - Kenny Bell
DE - Eric Martin
LB - Will Compton
DE - Daimion Stafford

On offense, Nebraska has found great balance as they are a top ten running team in the nation and are very effective passing the ball. The focus on the offense, whether running or passing, goes through Martinez as he not only is the team's leading passer, but is in on all the option plays we run very frequently. A young but talented WR core is lead by Kenny Bell who will likely make at least one big play a game, if not more. The TE's, while very good, are not a focus at all in our offense. The line is merely average. Expect for a balanced attack with several important mistakes.

On defense, Nebraska has a stingy passing defense, but are soft against the run. Expect Montee to have a big game Saturday. Nebraska has their starting DT out, Steinkhuler, who wasn't great, but will make this defense even softer against the run. No real stars outside of Eric Martin, who will likely have a sack or two saturday.

Nebraska wins if:
Arrow The team wins the turnover battle
Arrow The team, specifically the offensive line, has limited penalties
Arrow The defense can stuff Montee a few times to stall Wisconsin drives
Arrow The secondary doesn't get Abbrederis'd

A five-loss team in the Rose Bowl would be absolutely hysterical.

Nebraska wins 24-17.

If Joel Stave were starting, I'd pick UW by 10. I miss you Sunshine!

It goes both ways, hey? He's either going to troll the B1G by winning the Championship with a 5 loss team or he's going to troll Badger fans by turning what could have been a 10 win team into a 6 loss (and potentially 7) team. Laughing

The most boring thing the B1G has done in ten years, and THAT is saying something.

Let's just all be grateful that instead of a B1G team getting crushed in a national championship this year, we'll get to enjoy a team that refuses to join the B1G getting destroyed.

In the meantime, we get to watch the Fightin' Bielemas vs. the Screamin' Pelinis and have ESPN force it down our throats as entertainment.

Nebraska probably wins, but God knows how.

Your coach does look like the defintion of an internet troll. Laughing

Oh and I miss Stave too. Those shaky legs and general befuddled looks from the second half were funny.

The TAMU fan begins to talk junk after there one legitment season in
five years. Try at least getting to ten wins twice before you open up.

And for your info the game will be called by Gus Johnson and Fox. Not ESPN.

I've never hated a coach more. Hopefully it's just a growing pains type season with his playcalling and he can improve in the offseason. I don't think I could take another season of this garbage.

I mean, the guy went into full "burn the clock" mode the ENTIRE second half against Nebraska. Who the hell does that?
