Ballard, a strong blocker who proved he can make a lot of downfield plays last season after recording 38 catches for 604 yards [15.9 average] and 4 TDs was waived by the Giants yesterday because of an injury he suffered during the Superbowl that will most likely keep him out of the 2012 season.
The Patriots have done this type of thing before, claiming former Broncos Safety Josh Barrett in 2010.
***Update***
| Quote: | | In 2013, Ballard would be a restricted free-agent, which means the #Patriots aren't in risk of losing him if they choose to tender him. |

Well at least he went somewhere he won't be utilized. Surely he'll be cut by the time he heals up and then maybe we can get another stab at him. _________________

I think the plan is to have him do nothing in camp then IR him. We did this w/ Josh Barrett. _________________

A warrior in Giant blue. That was probably his downfall though, trying to come back in the SB.
Best of luck. _________________
