| Ugh, I would have just sat on Redman and picked up another QB next year. |

Must be to save some cap because McCown makes Redman look like Brady. Davis for back-up QB. _________________

| McCown does have experience with Koetter. So maybe instead of being horrible he just might be bad. |

Both make $540k in terms of cap... probably just a roster spot filler for final game until they cut McKown too. _________________

If Davis isn't our backup QB I will riot outside Smitty's house. _________________

wow, end of an era. As disgusted as I've been by redman's play this preseason I am kinda sad to see him go. The man has been a faithful and reliable backup for us in low times and high times.
Tip of my cap to Chris Redman, he was a good backup when we needed him.
Really looking forward to seeing Davis play more _________________ formerly MadAtFalcons |

I was hoping to wait for Scott Tolzien or Josh Johnson from the Niners, but oh well. Lets just pray Matty doesnt go down, because it doesnt matter who is our #2, we are in trouble. _________________

I'm torn on this one guys.
Even though I have been a supporter of Chris Redman for many many years on this team, he had gotten to the point where he just simply had to go. Redman had reached his point where he was no longer a viable #2 QB for us. Personally for me, I feel like you need to have more trust in the guy that is conceivably 1 snap away from being your starting QB than we had in Redman anymore. Good luck on all future endeavors Chris, you did everything we had ever asked of you, and actually stepped in a few times and played way better than anyone had expected.
What concerns me though, is bringing in Luke McCown. I don't care who/what/when/how/why wants to tell me that the kid is any good, because he's not. He is terrible. I understand the Jacksonville connection with Koetter and knowing the scheme/system.. but that doesn't help for me. Dude looked terrible last year when he had to start. I dont even know where to begin..
we needed to cut ties with Redman. we did that, check.
we needed to add a #2 that would be more capable than where Redman was at in his career. well, we added someone. however, that someone is not an NFL #2 QB in my opinion. we still have work to do. _________________
