This was expected with the presence of TE Fred Davis and a salary of $4M this season for Cooley.

I find it hard to believe that we couldn't get a late round pick for him. Thai and I were discussing this yesterday thinking that the Jets might bite. Unfortunately his contract was just too big. We'll definitely miss Cooley and will root hard for him wherever he goes....as long as its out of the NFC East.

Now Moss is the ONLY long term Skin left. I LOVE what Shanny,Allen amd Snyder have done. This isn't the same trash weve been watching since 99. Im excited. Fedex is going to feel a lot different this season.

He isnt worth a pick. I remember people saying a 3rd last year and maybe a 4th or 5th this year. I always said for what. An injury prone TE who is 30 and isnt a great blocker, doesnt have elite speed or height or jumping ability. With all that said now that he is a FA I hope the Raiders take a look we could use him. Wink

LoL. Agreed. Unfortunately Cooley has not been able to stay on the field, and when he does he is offering no more (perhaps less now) than Paulsen. No more holding onto players with a recognizable name that aren't producing (cough* Jamaal Brown excepted*cough).

He was never explosive and it looks like they are trying to get more big plays out of the position than just an occasional short catch with 0 YAC.

I know any of us in favor of letting Cooley go wanted a trade but I guess there were no takers...Maybe NOW we will have money to sign an OL that gets cut?

As I said before:

This is a sign of your team getting better.

If an OL gets cut, why would we spend the $4M on him? He was cut by someone for a reason. Give him league minimum + incentives.

How good is he as a blocker? The Jets need a #2 TE, but we need that to be a guy who can block. Jeff Cumberland can't block at all.
