Yes, he was all sorts of pimped going into last season due to all the touchbacks. He is the scapegoat for that AFCCG loss. |
Right, and then the NFL decided to essentially negate 50% of his worth by instituting the new kick-off rules prior to the start of the 2011 season. Then Cundiff went to to regress from the year before, where he made over close to 90% of his FGs in 2010, he made a meager 76% of them in 2011.
So no, the missed field goal in the AFCCG was just the icing on top. Fans were displeased with his performance and contributions well before that. |
Actually, Cundiff returned to slightly better than his career averages in 2011. Only place where he didn't was in kickoff distance where he still kicked for 4-5 yards more than his average (which helped with his touchback numbers). Prior to 2010, Cundiff had a grand total of 11 touchbacks in five years of kicking. Not sure why suddenly the leg appeared after he turned 30. Sufficed to say, I'm not all that optimistic about it. |

Redskins were terrible FG proctection last year, Cundiff won't improve that. _________________

Nice pickup for Washington. Cundiff's a top kicker in the NFL. _________________ Why, if it isn't my old friend, Mr. McGreg. With a leg for an arm and an arm for a leg. |

Uhhh... no. Maybe in 2010 you could make that argument, but he was 28th in FG percentage last season and can't hit from 50+ to save his life. _________________

That's not saying much, but my point was he still significantly regressed from the year prior, i.e. it's a fairly substantial drop-off from close to 90% to 76%. _________________

| My advice to Redskins fans: Look on the bright side. At least he most likely won't have to make any kicks in a conference championship game. And if you do make it that far, that means RG3 is pretty good. He's a decent replacement for this year, but I would definitely be looking for a new kicker next year. |

This...
Without that terrible blocking, Gano is 31/36 (86%).
Cautiously optimistic Cundiff is the 2010 version of himself. But still a little steamed we let go of the young, strong leg. _________________

He missed 2 31-yard field goals this session. What more needs to be said? _________________ RIP SuperSkinFan

The betrayal in Foxboro is what happened to him. He might not admit it, but that haunted him and he can't recover from that. _________________
