I've been seeing a lot of 12-4...11-5 or even 10-6 predictions from pundits on the Giants defending their crown.
But I'll even sweeten the deal.
I'm willing to bet, that not only will the loss of Brandon Jacobs cost the Giants a Playoff birth, but will prevent the Giants from even reaching .500 on their overall record.

How would you quantify the wins/losses being directly related to Jacobs? This isn't track and field there's 52 guys on the roster. _________________

I think this is a good write up of the game. Who played well for us and who didn't.
http://www.giants101.com/2012/09/07/new-york-giants-vs-dallas-cowboys-nfl-week-one-game-analysis/
I remember seeing at least 3 Giants linemen on the ground when we were trying to put it in after Boley's INT. How is Bradshaw supposed to score when his own linemen can't stay on their feet?
I also agree with this:
| Quote: | | •I don't want to hear the talk that somehow it's a negative sign that rookie David Wilson may have shown some emotion when he reportedly teared up on the sideline after his fumble. That is something Giants fans should take as one of the big positives in this game – because all I see from Wilson is a guy who's extremely committed to being successful in this league and very committed to making it happen. Count me in as very impressed with the type of prospect the Giants have in Wilson. |
And stand by my prediciton that Wilson will have more rushing yards than Bradshaw this year. Going to be hard if he fumbles it and Tom benches him though. _________________

I guess I'll be the one to do this. How about a sig bet. If Jacobs has a better statistical season than Wilson, I'll wear a sig of your choice for a month. If Wilson has a better statistical season, you wear a sig of my choice for a month.
The criteria :
Rushing yards
Rushing yards per attempt
Receiving yards
Total touchdowns
Fumbles
The player that does better in more of the categories wins. The only caveat being that the bet is off if one of the players misses more than 4 games due to injury. Deal? |
A bunch of neatly written nonsense. |
I'm not making that bet. Because I don't think that this year's team will be as good as last year's team. But Brandon Jacobs and his 571 yards (40th in the league) and 3.8 yards per carry (2nd worst of the top 40), will most definitely not be the reason. The offensive line looks porous, the secondary is banged up, even our defensive line looked stagnant. So the Giants may very well miss the playoffs, especially with their schedule. But I'm not going to give you the opportunity to stand on your high horse and proclaim that it's because we were without Jacobs.
And once again I find it amusing that Jacobs is so great, but will be losing carries to Kendall Hunter and Lamichael James. If he is as good as you believe he is, why isn't he a feature back somewhere, leading his team to the promise land? Yeah, way to back out like a wuss.
How about this. Since Jacob's 571 yards and 3.8 yards per carry average carried the Giants last season, how about we bet that Wilson beats those numbers this year? No? Of course not. Because you yourself don't believe the crap you're claiming. _________________

A positive? No.
Some major negative that we should all hold over his head? Also a no.
Sure it's embarassing for the kid, but what it shows more than anything else is that he genuinely cares. He is a young guy. It's easy for emotions like anger/frustration/sadness to get confused. He has waited his whole life to be in the NFL and he felt like he embarassed himself and let his team down. Which he did. But you can do a lot with a kid that cares so deeply about his play and not letting his team down.
I'll take that over the guys who make the same mistakes over and over and couldn't seem to care less. _________________ W O R L D C H A M P I O N S '86, '90, '07, '11 |

If I remember correctly, most of the Cowboys forum was applauding TO when he straight up cried in front of the media in the famous "that's my quarterback" speech. _________________

And how are any of those examples of "big positives" - as you so cleverly pointed out, Romo haters have used that image to mock him his entire career. And I've openly mocked TO myself as have most of you - but now one of your own does it and a writer calls it a "big positive" and you applaud him.
Im not mocking Wilson - heck I think hell have a decent career - but I find the comment written to be hillarious. Of all the positives you could pull you go with that?!? _________________

Ive been sigged up since about 5 or 6 on Thursday. And I've made several posts since putting on this thing.
I imagine you've made a few mistakes, as I'd be shocked if all those people left it off. Check your facts. |
