Let's keep all cuts here so we don't take up 20 different threads.
Cuts so far:

Not too surprised by Barnes getting cut. Although I expected it to come in the last round on Friday. _________________

BTW - don't be surprised by any long term Redskins getting cut or by the fact that this is a tough cut this year down to 53.
It is a sign of your team getting better (especially in depth) when your coaches have a hard time getting down to 53. I'd worry more if we and the coahces had an easier time getting to 53 and didn't have to agonize over at least 2 or 3 guys. _________________

Kick-off coverage.
Glad to see Barnes gone to be perfectly honest. I wonder if they will give Banks the stay of execution for one more game or whether he is cut now. |

Well I have to say I'm disappointed 2 guys I liked a lot got cut today.
Barnes was a favorite of mine since his Maryland days so I'll admit I was biased towards him, but Crawford and Thompson have been playing better. Still, I'm sure they are keeping Cedric Griffin as I said all a long and if they do I'll be upset with that decision. I'd rather have a 25 year old cb/s who can still improve than a 30 year old cb/s two years removed from tearing both acl's.
I thought Rackers should have been kept as our place kicker because he is more consistent. They went with youth in Gano, I can't say I blame them but Gano better start being more consistent, and get more lifts on his kicks, he line drives everything.
The others don't surprise me. _________________ RIP SSF mike23md

Most of us wouldn't be surprised at that.
What surprised me is we actually got the Lions to make a trade for him. Nice to hear we got something, anything for a player that was getting released. _________________

Nice to hear we got something, anything for a player that was getting released. | My problem is we are keeping Cedric Griffin over him who will be 30 and doesn't have much of a future in the league, Barnes could, he's only 25 and should improve either at cb or s. everyone has been saying cedric Griffin should be cut for 3 weeks, I just knew they'd do this. Cedric played at Texas where Kyle went to school.
Oh well, hope it works out but I can't imagine Cedric Griffin doing anything that Barnes couldnt do and Barnes is 4.5 years younger. _________________ RIP SSF mike23md

Traded
CB Kevin Barnes

RB Antwon Bailey
RB Lennon Creer
OL Chris Campbell
WR Sam Kirkland
LB Monte Lewis
OL Nick Martinez
TE Beau Reliford
QB Jonathan Crompton
OL James Lee
K Neil Rackers
OL Tony Moll

CB Morgan Trent
WR Lance Lewis
Reserve PUP
Jammal Brown
I think it's great that we were able to get something for Barnes, as it seems we were going to cut him anyway. The transition to the outside from the nickel obviously didn't work out but this move obviously means we've got confidence in Cedric Griffin.
I was surprised to see Reliford go now, as I thought a trade may be in the works for Cooley, but now the TE group is down to three I think it will stay in it's current makeup.
I also thought Crompton would be at least around for the Bucs game, given that Chappell and Gutierrez got some snaps in last year's corresponding matchup. Obviously he wasn't going to make the 53 though.
I'm a big fan of Gano so I'm pleased with the Rackers decision, but given how Graham hasn't attempted a field goal this preseason maybe it's a little early?
I'd like the team to go in a different direction from Brown as I'm not a fan, but stashing him on PUP makes sense as he can still be in a position to contribute.

^ As a sidenote, here is a shot of the piece of paper every player dreads, would be interesting to know which box was ticked for a few players we've had down the years |

Forgot to get in my compulsory I-told-you-so about Gano. Hopefully the field protection units execute this season, so we can put to rest any misconceptions. |
