I don't know if Dan Koppen is still recovering from injury or not - he might be worth bringing in as veteran depth behind Hudson.

Absolutely. Anyone will be better then Patterson/Bruggerman, etc. Patterson hasn't been terrible, but pairing him with Lilja would be a bad move. _________________

I would love to get Koppen, but I doubt he'd want to come here unless he's promised a starting position. I don't think we'd be willing to do that with how well Hudson's been playing. _________________

Marvin McNutt got cut, who I'd jump on instantly.
Also, Evan Moore, TE from Cleveland for some reason never caught on there. Dude is a very good receiving TE, if not just OK at blocking. _________________

The Eagles release Mike Kafka.
http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=497769
As I mentioned with my Brian Hoyer comment, I highly doubt that the Chiefs make a quarterback as we head into the first week of the regular season. IIRC, Kafka was known at Northwestern as a hard-nosed quarterback with some.....wait for it....moxie! Plus he is younger than Quinn (Kafka is 25, Quinn is 27).
Very interesting - I didn't realize Romeo Crennel coached the 2010 East West Shrine game and was Kafka's coach in that game :

Eachus supposedly makes the 53 - http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2012/8/31/3283516/chiefs-roster-cuts-nate-eachus
Other then that, no news on cuts from us. I'm probably really over thinking this, but I'm slightly worried that the lack of news is because we're still trying to sort through replacing a few guys who got hurt last night.
DJ, Tyson, and Quinn all reportedly have injuries, that if Teicher is to believed, "Could be significant." That would be a major issue should any of those guys have a significant injury. _________________

Moore is definitely an upgrade over Becht, err, I mean O'Connell. Not sure that Moore would be content with a #3 type of role. But if he were interested, I think this would a very solid signing (and subtraction in the case of O'Connell). _________________

I don't really get Eachus making the 53 unless Draughns is getting cut (which would be a surprise), or maybe Gray is going on the PUP or something.
Edit : If Quinn is injured, give Kafka a call and if we can bring him on board come up with an injury settlement with Quinn. _________________

I just noticed this little tidbit from nfldraftscout.com - it looks like Kafka broke his non-throwing hand in the preseason against the Steelers. I bet with Vick's injury, they were concerned with having first off 4 quarterbacks and let alone two that are recovering from injuries.
| Quote: | QBs Mike Kafka vs. Nick Foles for the No. 2 quarterback job. Going into camp, Kafka appeared to be the clear favorite over veteran Trent Edwards to be the season-opening backup to Mike Vick, with the loser getting released and rookie third-round pick Foles expected to spend his first NFL season as the No. 3 guy. But Edwards appears to have become a non-factor and Kafka fractured his non-throwing hand against the Steelers. He could miss the final three preseason games, which means more reps for Foles and an improved chance to open the season as Mike Vick's backup.
08/11/12 - QB Mike Kafka, broke his non-throwing (left) hand in Thursday's exhibition game and will be limited for the next three weeks. Kafka can participate in drills where he does not have to take snaps from center.

The rumor is that Cyrus Gray is done for the year, and going on injured reserve. Being the reason why we keep both Draughn and Eachus. |

Looking for a REAL FullBack?? Ovie Mughelli cut by the Rams.
In other news: Menzie going to IR - I'm pretty sure the Chiefs will bring in some DB.
Alphonso Smith (DET) Dominique Franks (ATL) |

Franks was a surprising cut. IIRC, Franks has some ability as a returner which is a plus. I definitely think that considering what we have at cornerback, Franks could atleast provide an upgrade over over some of the incumbents. _________________
