I like how ratings cant be used in defense of lost, but ratings can be used to discredit lost Laughing

I couldn't even get through the first season of Lost. It was awful, and I love me some JJ Abrams., but I do love the "It had 15 million viewers" argument. That means everything. NCIS is the best tv show ever on television, since it's constantly been the #1 show on tv for the past 3-4 years.

Also, Avatar and Titanic are the two greatest movies of all time, since they have made the most domestically.

I swear people cannot read for ish. It's insane. Laughing

I was never using viewers to say a show was better than another, I was simply using it to show that it's popular and people love it. A few haters saying it is trash means jack. It's a favorites list, which apparently is different from best for some, but that's besides the point.

Ok, then where's Two and a Half Men, the most-watched sitcom since Seinfeld? This list has plenty of sitcoms, so why wouldn't the most popular one on TV make the cut? Because you can have high ratings and still be unequivocal trash.

I'm not saying LOST is trash, just that ratings serve no point in any aspect of debate.

Due to a certain group of friends. I did manage to watch most of LOST, even if I watched it in pieces because I couldn't care less.

It's a tremendously pretentious show that got painfully repetitive after Season 1.

Sopranos is in the same pile.

To be sure, I'm not blind to what Miami Vice and Highlander were. Repetitive shows all the same. But they were original in their right....well Vice was.

The Shield went through a HUGE transition. It's not the same show Season 1 and Season 3. And Seasons 6 & 7 and indeed the show from beginning to end just got better and better.

Was it repetitive at times? Of course. Dutch was an annoying character for certain.

But any show that goes beyond 50 episodes will get repetitive. There's really only so many plot lines a genre show can have, not to mention something so specific like cop dramas. Only so many cases and characters before it becomes too contrived.

But that is what makes Seinfeld so great. Did it get repetitive? Yes. George being unemployed or unhappy with his job and generally loathable. Kramer being aloof and zany. Elaine being this proactive new-age persona and Jerry trying to play neutral to a fault.

But as a comedy, it gets more breaks than the slew of dramas.

I do have to say though, in terms of pure quality, Miami Vice's Season 1 & Season 3 are almost unbeatable in my mind.

As well, Season 2 of Mad Men.

Guys, why are we talkin bout lost when a show like how I met your mother got ranked so high. Talk about overrated, awful show AT BEST

Tried to watch LOST, basically all I got from it was Lord of the Flies made into a TV show.
