I understand the OLine was terrible tonight and the wide receivers were weak, but that doesn't excuse his terrible play. Just terrible decision making, awful throws and literally generated nothing vs. the Eagles 2nd and 3rd stringers.
Is he really worth $2M? |

Nah, trade him for like a 5th round pick. Not that I'm ready for Mallett to take over if something happened. But I feel like we could find someone who is at least as good as Hoyer on the FA market for nearly a 3rd of the cost. |

| I wasn't impressed by anyone tonight. But it's preseason and most these guys won't be on the team in 3 weeks. |

Back from watching the game. Thoughts...
*Ebner's pick was awesome. Nice to see all those glowing practice reports deliver something. Shades of another #43
*Bequette looked better than last week. However, the "all motor team" of him and Trevor Scott is seriously what the delayed draw were invented for.
*Vereen might be a smaller back but he looks strong after contact.
*Bolden can truck people even better, but can't seem to find a hole. If the Pats want him on the PS, he'll be available.
*The O-line was collectively awful. On the flip side, the Eagles pass rush looks terrifying. I wonder if there are any good pass rushers on the chopping block in Philly.
*Tarp doesn't look like much of a player. The explosiveness and speed is apparent, but he gets blocked easily and doesn't have the instincts in coverage to make up for it as a specialist. Fifth linebackers usually see the field one way or another, so he'd better learn fast. _________________

Marcus Cannon doesn't look like an NFL Tackle, nor does Nate Solder at this point.
If Sebastian Vollmer doesn't come back healthy we could have a tough time ahead. If our favourite German is fit to go, I think we should consider sticking him on the left side and let Solder continue to develop on the right. Cannon looks a better fit for Guard (even if the team has stated they don't see him that way). _________________

I was pondering about that. If Solder looks bad even in the regular season, I was wondering if they would move Vollmer to the left and put Solder on the right. |

Fail by me. I was just trying to get my Billy Spikes on (you know, where you report what's already been reported in a constantly updated thread).
