No, not the serial killer show and not trying to troll here, just had a question.
With Dexter practicing exclusively at WR, when Bowe comes back doesn't that push him to 4th on the depth chart ? Are you guys going to use more 4-wr sets ? Does this seem like good/poor utilization of a 2nd rder, especially with his explosiveness ? Does he replace Breaston in the slot ? _________________

We will surely do some 4 WR sets and we will surely use Dex some out of the backfield (more as a receiver than a RB, but don't be surprised to see him get a couple carries a game). Not sure who will be in the slot when we have 3Bs out there, but Dex will get plenty of time. _________________

I actually thought you guys drafted him to play outta the slot. I was surprised to hear he hadn't been getting any time at RB give that he is sort of a COP back with Charles and Hillis now. _________________

I can tell you this. I don't know where they are going to play him. But wish they would keep him in the same place and not move him around every year.
I would like to see him as our punt returner, split time in the slot with Breaston, and also do screen plays to give him space to work with where he is good at. Maybe even use the reverse run with him. I don't really care to much to see him as a running back, especially since we got Charles and Hillis back there.
Anyways I have not been a fan of his since we have drafted him. |

| He has looked so good in camp and in the game that I think he will be on the field a lot. Even if it means Breaston sees less snaps. Dex and Cassel seem to have a great rapport. That is huge because Cassel needs receivers who get tons of separation because of his physical limitations. Dex does just that, explosive and gets separation quickly. Breaston can play the slot too, but Breaston has always been better as an outside WR contrary to popular belief. Either way it is a good problem to have too many good players. |

Breaston is not a slot WR. He took minimal snaps in the slot last season. Common misconception. We will continue to rotate Bowe-Breaston-Baldwin out wide with Dexter and Devon Wylie playing specifically in the slot. We will not have to run 4 WR sets for them all to see extensive playing time. _________________

Keep in mind Breaston and DMX both have a history of injuries, mostly minor, but still. I don't think either should be leaned on too heavily. I too see them rotating guys in and out in various positons (Baldwin played a good deal of slot last year).
As far as a large investment in a role player, think of the Saints using Robert Meachem, a former 1st rounder, as pretty much a situational player. Things just shook out that way (Colston coming from nowhere), but it resulted in them winning a SB. Having Drew Brees helps , but the point remains, if he sees 10-12 touches per game, not a problem when you include ST's and screens out of the backfield, he could still be a crucial piece to our offense. _________________

hello, welcome, and probably a 4th rounder at best. _________________

Welcome as well.
IMO, our WR depth is very thin and at the least inexperienced. Copper is not very dynamic, and the rest are just developmental types, that I'd not like to see getting real regular season reps. Getting rid of Dex would hurt our only viable depth option that's experienced and proven. _________________

Thanks, to both of you.
As of now I wouldn't trade McCluster, since we do need WR Depth. I was just curious on what you guys thought he would be worth. |

Reign, welcome to the board, and I think a 4th would be about right for Dex. As for how we'll deploy him, they've talked a lot in camp about moving people around, rotating people in and out. I don't know that you can say anyone is going to line up specifically anywhere. Yeah guys like Dex and Wylie scream slot, but remember Baldwin last year lined up in the slot a lot when he played too. Dex can line up in the backfield, out wide whatever, Hillis is a RB/FB/H-Back/TE type of player, and we finally have weapons at TE, and some depth.
I would call our line-up fluid at this point, and depending on the match-ups I think you could see a helluva lot of formations utilizing a ton of guys. _________________

| Sorry but a 4th round pick guys? That's is a little high. I would think a 5th or a player. Dude plays positions that are not worth much. |

Dexter needs more work on the receiving than on the backfield.
He is always first and only on the depth chart.
