Thoughts on the game.

Positives:

Martin and Jean look like the future and played well with Schaub tonight.

Foster and Tate breaking off a couple of solid runs

Shayne Graham, even thought it was a 51 yarder that Bullock missed Grahman is making it hard on Kub and Smith and I think he would be the better option for this team this year. (What would we do with Bullock? Send him to IRland?)

Good pressure by the front 7 against a team that doesnt take deep drops in the passing game.

Aside from the blown assignment by Mccain early the DB's were flying around all night.

Ben Jones- aside from a false start where I think he forgot to hike the ball he continued to play well

Dre looking healthy and making a nice catch(that was of course under thrown by Schaub)

Our new full time kick returner Trindon Holiday


Negatives

Newton at RT, Butler is clearly the choice. Same goes for Caldwell, Brooks played like a rookie tonight.

Other than Foster our backs need to improve their blitz pick ups

We really need a blocking TE or Dreesen back Graham couldn't block a 7th grader just learning to play football.

The massive void left in the A gaps by out NT.

My biggest negative on the night was Bradie James. I don't know what it is, but I'm not a fan of his play at all. By mid season or even before that I see Sharpton or Dobbins starting nxt to Cush

We are going to be so good on offense it's amazing. Martin and Jean are both better than Jacoby Jones could ever be. Martin is so dynamic and Jean is big, fast and impressive. The defense is nasty.

Looking at Lumberjack's negatives (I wasn't able to watch the game),

- Is Earl Mitchell that much of a drop off from Cody?
- I assume that when a blocking tight end is needed we can slide Casey over there
- I may be developing a subtle dislike for Reggie Herring. Started when he manned the defense for the Panthers game last year and went all blitz happy on us. And now it seems that he may need to take off his Battle Red shades, because just going off of the first game James is not at all better than Ryans and if he looked bad again...
