It's almost here. Here's a GDT to discuss the game. I'll be at the game and not here, but I'll be here in spirit. I'll try to take a few pics and maybe have some game analysis for you guys when I get back. Man it can't get here fast enough! _________________

I am going to watch 3 players closely.
Stanzi - can't wait to watch him play. Should get a lot more reps then last year and should be our best QB in the game. Very excited to watch him play again.
Wylie - I fell in love with this guy when we drafted him and is my favorite rookie. I think he is going to be an awesome guy for us. Maybe not this year but down the road.
Tanny - yes, Tanny. I am just excited to see him play really. Don't know much about him other then the trick shot YouTube video. Just want to see him play. |

Anthony Toribio - can he actually be our starting guy?
Eric Berry - I just need to see him in action
Jalil Brown - can he step up if needed and play Lcb? _________________

For the record, Stanzi is the best QB on this team...it's possible we don't see proof until he runs with the 1st team, but there is no doubt in my mind...unless Quinn has some "it" factor that nobody's seen yet.
Also my theory on some of his bad INT's or passes in training camp/preseason: He's still testing what he can/can't do against NFL defenses. He'll be fine once he gets into a real game, his instincts will take over combined with what he's learned and sure, he'll still take a few lumps and lessons especially early in the year, but it will be alot better than having #7 back there missing receivers on crucial 3rd downs, etc....
For whatever it's worth, Nick Afton of Warpaint on the radio: "The backup job is Stanzi's to lose" (combination of his opinion and what the Chiefs think of him and his future). Also says Stanzi is the most mechanically sound of the 3 QB's, footwork, etc..and is the best at reading defenses. Basically saying all Cassel has on him is experience. |

I'm actually worried about him being too amped up for this game and doing something stupid that could endanger his health for the season. _________________ KC Chiefs

Surprised no one has said Poe yet. Can't wait to watch him play. Baldwin as well. _________________

I actually expect Toribio and Powe to play more than Poe, which I don't mind. Don't put too much on him this first game and just let him get a gauge on where he needs to be.
Super pumped about Baldwin and McCluster though.
Expect Draughn to get a good amount of work in. _________________

I'll be paying very close attention to Poe, Bailey, Dorsey and Toribio. All 4 of them have some question marks surrounding them and if they all can play up to their ceiling, this will be a very scary defense.
I'll also be watching Routt, Brown, Arenas and Menzie closely for the same reasons.
On the offensive line, there isn't one specific player I'll be watching, but I really want to see whether they're playing together as a cohesive unit yet. Doubtful, but it'd be encouraging to see.
Baldwin, McCluster and Wylie interest me a LOT.
...and last but certainly not least...P-HILLY, BABY!!!! YEAH!!! _________________

Cassel: I would like to see how much control he has over the offense
Baldwin: Can he keep it up outside from TC?
Houston: Can he continue from the end of last year |

Ill be watching Rodney Hudson. A lot of our success depends on his performance in his first year starting. Can he hold up in pass pro, keep The pocket clean for Matt.
Also want to see how Jeff Allen looks. Would love for him to win the LG spot but don't see it as a real possibility.
One more would be Jalil Brown. As said earlier, hope he shows enough to challenge for the LCB spot. _________________

I have work tonight so I won't get to see the game, but I'm hoping for competent play. _________________
Healthy Gates >>>> Anyone to play the TE/WR position, ever.
|

I am pretty excited about this team
Tonight I really am excited to see:
Cassel- I didn't like him in 2010 let alone last year. That said, I am not big on Stanzi and think Cassel can manage a game (at least ok)
The ACL crew- I really missed watching Charles and Berry play
Houston- I am really expecting alot from him this season. If he turns into a beast, this D will be amazing
The Oline- it will be nice to not see B Rich out there anymore. Should be good to watch. |
