It is currently being reported locally that he broke his collar bone.

Albert Breer Tweet:

Quote:
@AlbertBreer: Ouch ... RT @UTgehlken: Ryan Mathews will have surgery Friday, coach Norv Turner said.

Hopefully for only a game or two. Either way, not a great start for the bolts.

What is it with AFC West RBs getting injured all the time?

Id be surprised if Mathews is ready to carry the full workload after 6 weeks. This could easily effect him into the 2nd quarter of the season. Hopefully Ronnie Brown doesn't have a Willis McGahee like resurgence filling in.

Best case would be at least till week 2. Rotoworld saying could be back for the season opener which I think is highly unlikely.

Once again the injury bug bites Mathews. A talented back that can't stay healthy like McFadden. Well at least it's still an early injury and one that won't keep out for the season.

What a shame. I feel for people who have already done their fantasy drafts.

Awful, awful, awful!

Just about the only position we couldn't afford an injury...

UGH!

My fantasy team was really banking on this guy having a break-out year... but he just can't stay healthy!
