Nice play by Potter and Massie there. Potter going to need to work on that holding. _________________

Im not in the least knocking floyd, just stating that its a waisted pick when we can't block and our QBs are terrible. |
We like veterans on the offensive line. I think that much has been made clear. Russ and Whis don't trust rookies on the OL, maybe they need to give them a little more leeway, especially when our first string OL is not playing well at all, but it is not like our second team OL is pushing them with lights out play in games.
Massie is in a RT. Nice throw from Bartel to Williams there.
Nate Potter called for a hold there. |
All of our "second" and "third" team linemen are either aging vets, late rounders or UFA.
Not one 1st, 2nd or 3rd rounder we've developed other than Levi.
That's ridiculous. _________________

The worst preseason game I've ever seen this team play. Ever. _________________

And do you have to be selected in the top 100 picks to be any good on the offensive line??
Josh Sitton is one of the best guards around - 4th rounder
Carl Nicks is arguably the best guard in the NFL - 5th rounder
David Stweart is arguably the best RT in the NFL - 4th rounder
Jake Scott, 7th Rounder
Harvey Dahl - UDFA
Arguably the best LT in the NFL last year (Jason Peters) was a converted TE and went undrafted.
Tyson Clabo is one of the better RT's in the NFL, he was undrafted.
Zach Streif has done well in NO, he was a 7th round pick.
You want an elite blindside protector you are going to need to invest a top 50 selection most times, but other than that you can build an offensive line in the middle and late round of a draft. You however do need to skill and coaching to develop said players.
Right now we don't have that, I get the feeling Whis knows that, so we consistently go after veterans who "should" know the technique side of things and plug them in.
Russ Grimm should not have an NFL coaching job. When has he ever put out an above average offensive line. _________________ Patrick Peterson - 92 targets, 40 catches allowed, 602 yards, 6 TD's, 7 INT's

| Not impressed. Neither side of the ball looks good... I hope they get the ship righted before Week 1 |

it's hard not to be upset after a showing like that, even if it is pre-season. and I'm no longer concerned about the play of our QBs, my biggest concern is our line...my god they look awful. every single one of them. _________________

“I definitely would like to be further along than where we are right now,” Fitzgerald said. “But it’s the second preseason game. I’m not about to jump off any bridges.”
Best quote I've seen in a long, long time. We've got a lot of work to do and a lot of things to shore up but everybody here needs to relax. IT'S THE PRESEASON. Nobody should be making definitive player/coach comments on 2 preseason games. _________________

Here’s why you get gun-shy about making grand pronouncements. LeRon Byrd had a good game – even Whisenhunt said so – and his three catches for 33 yards, all at the end of the first half, got the Cards a field goal. Good stuff, right? Sort of. Whisenhunt said Byrd was supposed to run a diagonal and would have been open in the flat but ran the wrong route and “left our quarterback out to dry.”
“You see the big plays and you think he has a good game but one of the small things happens and the quarterback keeps the ball in his hand because he’s looking to throw and LeRon isn’t there,” Whisenhunt said.
Another example of where the results of the preseason can end up meaning very little. _________________

I could see the OL giving up 60+ sacks this year. _________________

8-15 of our 54 sacks allowed last year were squarely on our quarterbacks. If we give up 60+, Skelton/Kolb will be just as much to blame as anyone else. _________________
