I really hope it's only for depth because this guy is done...he will be the Backup of Woodyard i think. _________________

| Travathan was looking good enough behind Woodyard that I dont see why there would be a need for Brooking. Is this more an indictment of both Mohammed and Irving? |

This is just a weird signing. I've heard of kicking the tires, but this vehicle is blocks in a junkyard. _________________

Guys, hes just a camp body to push the young guys. He'll mentor/be the coach-on-the-field at LB. This LB core is in dire need of leadership. DJ cant handle that. Brooking plays with a lot of intensity and can maybe show some of the young guys the grind. _________________

Glass half full I guess.
So do they waste a roster spot on a yesteryear player to help coach the younger guys or is he just here for preseason? _________________

I'm thinking DJ will be cut. As Jersey said, its a good guy to have around for the young linebackers. He can teach the position and what it takes to make it in this league, as well as how to be a professional - something DJ can't teach.
I don't think Irving has made the strides the coaching staff expected, which is unfortunate. Hopefully Brooking can provide coaching and guidance to our young guys; Von, Woodyard, Irving, and Muhammed.
All that said I'm this excited about this signing - _________________

| Has he ever played MLB? Maybe they are thinking about him as a backup to Mays. We are pretty thin in the middle. Im not even sold on Mays. |

Yeah,I think its just preseason but thats just me. I think its just a grindy old vet who wont shy from physicality. Hes a rah-rah guy now. When you have all young starters, it takes a vet to come in and show them the ropes.

Just got up and looked on my phone and it said "Broncos have signed five time Pro Bowl linebacker Keith Brooking." I am tired so once this news sunk in, I thought: Wait what? For five years? Then I took a second look Anyways, his first two years in Dallas were still okay. At least that's what I remember. Last season, he appeard in 16 games, started three and notched 50 tackles and two passes defensed. Could have done worse in terms of a depth signing. The signing is an immediate leadership boost for another position group. Manning, McGahee, Stokely, Brooking, Champ, Dawkins/now Adams are now our core of vets on this team... All these guys serve a purpose even if they aren't on the field. And in some cases, that also is a plus: That they don't have to be on the field. _________________
