No. |
Ouch. Not many #3/#4 TE's stick that don't play ST. _________________ 20 TIMES, 20 TIMES MAN UNITTTTTEEDDD

Based on last year, Thomas looked too soft to really offer anything of value on Special Teams. But I still think when all is said and done, if Thomas impresses on offense he will make the team. The Special Teams stuff is nice but realistically Tight Ends are not huge impact players on ST and so you likely will not see a situation where you're choosing between cutting Thomas or an impact player on Special Teams(also worth noting that given what Tight Ends usuall do on Special Teams, there is also no reason a team cannot play their starters on Special Teams either).
Virgil Green is a contributor on Special Teams though, so that does give him an edge. But I don't think Special Teams ability should really be the biggest factor here. If Thomas was far better on offense(which I expect he isn't) he would/should get the spot.
That's assuming it comes down to only three Tight Ends of course. Personally I'm for loading up rosters with Tight Ends if one has a bunch of good ones, it's a Tight End dominated league. _________________ Stop slobbering over Brian Dawkins |

My god, our Oline looks pathetic...
other than Clady and Kuper none of them have any business of starting for any NFL teams. |

+1. Manning is a master of getting the ball out quick and manipulating the pocket. They won't look as bad as they are, but I know I wouldn't put Manning behind Walton and Beadles and expect him to stay upright. They play some GREAT pass rushing teams this year. Going to be interesting to see how that unit comes along. _________________

I still think he has a place on this team as a starter. _________________

I hope so. He is certainly better than the depth on this team. I hope he can just either really improve in his pass blocking, or get moved inside. _________________

I wanna see his progression through the preseason, but obviously they are interested in him at OG, however, I still think that has at least something to do with the abysmal guard play moreso than Franklin's actual RT play. _________________

Yeah, I need to remember how young he still is. He deserves time to progress.
I think they are just trying to figure out who to play at RT if one of our Guards go down. I don't think they are looking to upgrade our guards (yet). They are just looking at who should be #2 in each spot. _________________

I doubt seriously if Franklin will ever be a good RT. I know I'm repeating myself, but he's never going to develop the quick feet and reflexes to handle the "island" on the outside. He's a road grader, a mauler, not the nimble guy you'd like handling speed rushers in pass-pro.
I do however think he could be dominant as an OG. |

Hate to barge in and ask a fantasy related question, but who is your starting TE?
To me, Dreessen is better, but people seem to think Tamme just because he and Manning had some good games in Indy. _________________ NEW 2011 draft prediction.

Dreessen is more likely to be a redzone threat. _________________ Stop slobbering over Brian Dawkins |

From what I've seen in the all the camp practices I've gone to is that Tamme and Stokley are similar insofar as neither really does much of anything that impresses yet both remain with the first team and seem to have two of the most secure roster spots. Both have also had inexcusable drops that, in the regular season, could have made the difference between winning and losing an important game.
I appreciate as well as anyone the importance of having players with whom Manning is familiar given that we're running an offense whose passing game relies on timing and anticipation. But both leave over Peyton's dead body. _________________ big_palooka:
