The Rams became the first team in league history to have three consecutive 500 point seasons:

The defense allowed the following those years:

Now we look at the Patriots:

Some will disagree but I don't think it's as impressive in today's game. I think it was more impressive when the GSOT did it.

A lot of rules changes favoring the offense over the past decade though. Big hits from safeties are essentially personal fouls now, no matter how clean the hit is.

No doubt the GSOT was more impressive, but like the Bears in the 80s, the GSOT has a jump start on most NFL defenses.
It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't approach to the whole issue.
Personally I think the 83 Redskins or the 98 Vikings are more impressive feats. Personally.
But then you hear bout those 50s Rams.....

Me too...with an honorable mention to the 1991 Redskins as well.
