Agreed, There is so many good things that can come of it that it's hard to list. Like you said though it's not all peaches and cream. You have to take the bad with the good though. Personally the bad just wore on me to the point I wasn't interested in staying in. I will admit though I broke the rule of "don't judge the army off your first duty station", I just couldn't risk it! Laughing

Also Jagfan, I highly suggest you look into EVERY branch(don't forget about the Coast Guard either!). Don't limit yourself, you may be surprised at what you find. You'll be that much more sure of your decision as well.

I agree with Neumatic in regards to doing your research and taking your time with the decision.

I served in the Navy and Army National Guard, and I dont regret any of my time....however, if I could go back, I probably wouldve joined the Air Force, or at the very least, looked more into it before I joined. I went into the Navy mainly because my friend decided to go Navy...and then he got kicked out in less than 2 years. Confused

Bottom line...the military can do alot for a person and be a great experience....but as stated, do your research, make an informed decision and carve out the best experience you can. You dont always have control, but if you make the most of the opportunities you get early, they will pay off in the long run.

Joining the Marine Corps was the best decision I've ever made.

I miss it.
