I like your list alot, but I find 2 things I disagree about:
1) Why wouldn't Percy Harvin be considered our #1 WR? He's not a number 1 WR in the sense of what Sidney Rice and Randy Moss were considered #1 WRs, but as of right now, Harvin is our best reciever.
2) I don't see us starting Chris Carr over Josh Robinson or even Zack Bowman. While I see Cook being the definite LCB, and Winfield the NCB, I think RCB will be held be either of these guys. Carr should see time in the Dime, or 5th spot, and working on special teams.
otherwise, good job. _________________

I like this list. The LB battle for the back-up spots will be very interesting. I think you're dead-on for the Dline and DBs.
On offense I like the O-Line set up. In lieu of Shuler, I think they'll keep Jenkins at wideout -- to start the season, and then cut Shuler when Simpson returns.
The 3rd back will be a battle too. Todman seems like a guy that fits, so we'll just have to see how things shake out on Special Teams for him.
The last position I don't think is settled is Kicker -- yes, kicker. Walsh had better hit 90+% in the first 2 weeks of camp and everything in the first 2 pre-season games, or I'd be calling Longwell back. I'd purposely have the offense stall a couple times in pre-season games to make this kid kick -- a lot. The last thing this team needs is Chuck Nelson Jr. |

Tom Pelissero @TomPelissero
Jerome Felton continues to rep ahead of Ryan D'Imperio, who is on every special team. Definite chance they keep two fullbacks.
Tom Pelissero @TomPelissero
Seems Lex Hilliard is ahead of Jordan Todman right now too. Another special teams guy. Depends what #Vikings want in No. 3 halfback.
Tom Pelissero @TomPelissero
Mike Priefer says "As far as I'm concerned, Percy is our No. 1 kick returner."
Tom Pelissero @TomPelissero
Geoff Schwartz working in at RG with ones. Also D'Aundre Reed just did what he always does in practice -- speed rush, touch sack. |

In regards to the FB question. Id like to just keep Ellison as the FB and backup TE, rather than wasting an extra position on a pure FB, even if they can help on special teams. Id rather save that roster spot for an extra WR or DB.
As for the #3 RB spot, id prefer Todman. I think he is more of a true third down RB, and has return potential. If Hilliard could play FB and RB, id consider him as well.
Interesting that Schwartz is the current starting RG, i guess that isnt too unexpected. Though with the talk of Fusco pushing for a starting spot, I wonder if the Vikes are hoping he can push Charlie Johnson at LG too. |

I wouldn't read to much into who's playing with the first team, right now. Schwartz was starting today, but Fusco was playing with the first string yesterday. _________________

the competition will be good. bottom line, and its refreshing after the past several years having Hutchinson and Herrera slated to start without question. |

Two fullbacks? Most teams don't need 1.....strategy, strategy...come on....
Also, Webb should be your return guy. Waste of him to sit him on the bench, total waste. And you want Percy at WR and RB, more than last year. _________________ Wins are a team stat, not a QB stat |

The bolded above are the only 2 that have clearly changed thus far, with Childs out for the year and Griffen being moved back to DE (likely to be replaced by Marvin Mitchell). Griffen will replace one of those currently listed as DE, most likely Powell at this point. And one of the WRs currently listed as being cut will replaced Childs, my guess right now is it will be Arceneaux. _________________

If Jarius Wright or Josh Robinson can prove to be a more effective return specialist than Marcus Sherels, I would prefer to keep Brandon Burton as a developmental CB. However, if Sherels is the team's best PR to start the year, I prefer Sherels as the 6th CB.
Seven Linebackers plus Everson Griffen may be overkill, however, I think if the team cuts either Solomon Elimimian or Audie Cole, they will get picked up. Marvin Mitchell is a versatile backup and Larry Dean seems like a special teams favorite and probably will get a roster spot.
Depth at Safety might be thin, so I am kind of hoping that Burton or Bowman could possibly play in a pinch. I like the potential of Sherels or Burton more than Eric Frampton at Safety so it seemed more ideal to carry 6 CBs/4 Safetys, than a more balanced mix of 5 and 5. |

It'll be interesting to see who the Vikes keep for the final 53. My list is similar to LostRoadStone's.
On offense, I see the Vikes keeping 3 QBs, 9 O-line (adding Joe Berger), 3 TEs, 3 RBs and 1 FB with 6 WRs (or 5 WRs & 4 TEs).
Schwartz' injury puts him in position to be placed on season ending IR -- remember when Matt Birk had that same injury and the down year he experienced? Schwartz isn't the talent of Birk, so it may be reasonable they'll want someone healthy as a back-up.
On D, I suspect the D-line will carry 9 guys, 6 LBs (adding Dean), 10 DBs (cutting Sendejo). |

I find the LB spot very intriguing.
You have Greenway, Henderson, Brinkley as locks. After that, Mitchell seems like a safe bet as the most experienced backup. After Mitchell, it becomes much more difficult where MN needs to figure out if they want to keep 6 total LBs plus Griffen or 7 LBs plus Griffen. The problem with assigning a number value to a specific position is you may end up letting a potential contributor go. I see Cole and Elimimian as bright spots and players who have made some plays. Id like to keep both those players and that puts the team at 6 + Griffen. So where does that leave Larry Dean? It seems like he has ascended as a premier special teams player for this team. Its not a bad dilemma to have, you just dont want to let go of talent because of the perception you might be too deep at one position. |
