I knew David Gettis's return should not be counted on. I like the acquisition of Louis Murphy. Plaxico Buress should have been signed. That is going to go down as an all time blunder & short sided view of the world by JRich. The guy made one tiny mistake in which he was the only victim that suffered. He payed his debt to society. He should be a Carolina Panther. This just stupid assumption that...well ohh we dont need Plax...we got Lafell & Gettis. Rolling Eyes I like Lafell alot but he's still a young inexperienced WR. I doubt Gettis even plays this year....due to knee concerns. Plax would be an immediate threat (especially Redzone&blocking) to add to our arsenal of weapons. No David Gettis should have triggered a non-risk FA signing for 1.5m to a guy that wants to be a Panther (THATS EXTREMELY RARE....since I've been in Charlotte). But nope....lets just trade more future draft picks. Plax is who we need. Not young, middle round drafted, very-average WR's. This could end up being our downfall. Not enoughs legit weapons for Cam outside of the Rb's. Not happy at all Mad

Well that sucks. Good thing we got Murphy. This team never will get Plax and shouldn't have.

He can be removed from the PUP any time during the preseason, and even if he's not ready by the season opener he can be removed week 6.

I'd rather him fully recover than rushing him back.. we all remember what has happened to Thomas Davis' career Crying or Very sad

They say he tweaked a hamstring and this gives them the option in case its longer term otherwise if he doesnt start on this he has to go IR I think he's back a week or so into camp.

No. Just no.

Why would we want an old, washed up receiver who has no chance of improving this team in the long run?

All in all I think you're overreacting just a tad.

We should want a proven veteran solid WR (who stays healthy, blocks well, & catches TD's in the redzone). He's 6'5 and would be the only intimidating big WR on the roster. Gettis's health can not be counted on....& we shouldn't rush him back if he's not ready. Steve Smith & Brandon Lafell are capable of sustaining serious injurys just as much as anyone else on the roster. You can never have too many WR's especially if the injury bug bites. (although....we.....NEVERRRRRR have adequate depth to prevent lost performance by injury....NEVERR!! at any damn position. Injurys always ruin our season....for most teams it doesn't...for us it does cause we have a paper thin roster).

Sure Plax isn't the WR he used to be. Sure he's not the future of this franchise. Doesn't need to be either. He's a 1 year stop gap to insure we have a solid WR core with some experience....because injuries do happen...& they take their tole. He's not washed up at all! After being away from the game for 2 full years.....last season he caught 45balls for over 600yds & 8TD's....& from sucky Mark Sanchez none the less. If you think Plax wouldn't make our team better you are absolutely insane. Plax was an instrumental part of a SB team just a few seasons ago. Armanti, Pilares, Ajirotutu...& even young talents (J.Adams/L.Murphy) can't even hold his jockstrap. He has far more big game experience than anyone on this roster. Yes that includes Smitty, Beason, anyone even the leader Ron Rivera as well! He has much more natural talent than any of our current WR's2-14. He could bring an X factor to this team. (AND FOR SO CHEAPPPPPP....he wants to play HERE...his family is HERE....it be a veteran's minimum 1yr 1mil deal....non guarenteed. Clausen & Mare are going to make a combined 18mil over the next 4 years. But we don't have room for Plax's measly 1-2mil......to make us a legit contender okaaaaaaaay panthers Rolling Eyes

While I do not like Plaxico, I agree with this gentleman's post. He wants to play here, VERY RARE. With Gettis not being where he needs to be, Plax would give us some cheap insurance. This is a low risk-high reward endeavor and it puzzles me that it didnt happen already.

1. We arent any different than other teams. Injuries/health play a huge part in every teams seaason.

2. You are talking about 34 year old Plaxico Burress. He's no savior. The team isnt any worse off without him and if you think they are you vastly overrate 34 year old Plaxico Burress. Plaxico is going to make us a legit contender? Did you really say that?

Not that I don't love Luke Kuechly, but I also love Michael Floyd - I guarantee he is going to ball in Arizona. Wouldn't have minded either one.

I think people are overreacting to this too much though. Gettis tweaked his hamstring, an injury not only completely unrelated to his torn ACL but is an injury that could happen to any player, especially one that was probably just now being cleared to go all out when working out.

So, how does that help our defense?

It would put less pressure on the defense because pf their dominant offense. But could they possibly get Mike Wallace. A Cam, Wallace, and Smitty trio is sexy as hell Shocked

Also would be pretty expensive.
