What do you think about the potential 3rd and 4th round guys? |
Aside from Travis Long I think it would be a wasted pick. If Gholston or Lemonier fall to the 3rd then I would take a chance on upside, however, the DE talent this year seems to be really week.
Also you are right none of these DEs are Top 5 worthy, but honestly not a single player in this draft is a Top 5 prospect in any ordinary draft. |
In the 3rd there are no CBs i like either, but there are some nice FS prospects....
Of course it's still really early, haha.
A trade down scenario where the browns pick up extra picks and then use the 1st on the kid from Oregon might be interesting though. |
Here is some to consider
Carrington Byndom*, CB, Texas
Height: 6-0. Weight: 180.
Projected 40 Time: 4.46.
Projected Round (2013): 2-3.
Terry Hawthorne, CB, Illinois
Height: 6-0. Weight: 190.
Projected 40 Time: 4.49.
Projected Round (2013): 2-3.
Micah Hyde, CB, Iowa
Height: 6-1. Weight: 185.
Projected 40 Time: 4.48.
Projected Round (2013): 2-3.
Travis Howard, CB, Ohio State
Height: 6-1. Weight: 196.
Projected 40 Time: 4.47.
Projected Round (2013): 3-4.
Demontre Hurst, CB, Oklahoma
Height: 5-10. Weight: 183.
Projected 40 Time: 4.48.
Projected Round (2013): 3-4.
Brodrick Brown, CB, Oklahoma State
Height: 5-8. Weight: 185.
Projected 40 Time: 4.44.
Projected Round (2013): 3-4.
Sanders Commings, CB, Georgia
Height: 6-2. Weight: 216.
Projected 40 Time: 4.49.
Projected Round (2013): 3-5.
Leon McFadden, CB, San Diego State
Height: 5-10. Weight: 190.
Projected 40 Time: 4.48.
Projected Round (2013): 3-5.
Darius Slay, CB, Mississippi State
Height: 6-1. Weight: 190.
Projected 40 Time: 4.53.
Projected Round (2013): 3-5. _________________ The Dawgpounds new three headed monster!

Yeah, I'm not a fan of any of those guys... Howard might be my pick of that group and I don't even like him. Haha. If we to add a starter at CB it's going to be through free agency or a trade I'm afraid. |

I like all 3 Big 10 CB's and and the kid from San Diego State "a lot" in the 3rd round. _________________ The Dawgpounds new three headed monster!

Big10 CBs scare me right now.... Heck lots of players in the big10 ability to translate to the nfl scares me. This is the lowest talented Big10 I have ever seen. Nt too long ago I would have jumped for the top CB from osu or Michigan but now not so much. |

Newest Update I am removing some more prospects from my watch list because I don't believe these prospect are RE prospect in the NFL but rather 5-Tech of LE prospects.I am not saying I wouldn't draft these players because great depth at LE would be awesome and if we can't get a RE in this draft then a great backup to Sheard would be good for us as well.
Datone Jones(One of my favorite prospects this year but he is a LE whos game is about power more than speed)
William Gholston
Margus Hunt
John Simon(Run stopping LE all the way)

Browns seem to have a pretty short DL overall... I always liked taller guys at DE. _________________

Haha true, but I always like a guy that is Peppers tall and is Peppers good. either works right!
But it does bring to mind type of scheme are we going to run and what players fit that scheme.
- smaller faster DEs built to attack the QB...
- bigger stronger DEs built to stop the run and collapse the pocket
- mix.
-other
Keep everything in front and play a cover 2 like the Bears, or attack attack the QB? Pressure from the DEs or pressure from LBs? Both?
Does that change how you look at the players available? _________________

Yeah, scheme is a big part for me as well when it comes to player selection....
With the DEs available this draft (and top 2 LBs as well) its so hard to pick one without knowing who our DC is going to be next season and what the scheme is going to look like.
I know what I'd like to see, but we all have different ideas.... _________________

Brandon Jenkins, the star Florida State defensive end who returned for his senior season but was lost to a foot injury in early September, will not return for his senior season, he announced Monday following Florida State's practice.

Although eligible for a medical redshirt, Brandon Jenkins will not return to #FSU next year. Headed to 2013 NFL Draft. #Noles

Jenkins was an All-American in 2010 and had a strong season in 2011. He returned for his 2012 senior year, hoping to elevate his draft stock even more. Unfortunately, that did not happen. Jenkins said he came to the decision two weeks ago.
Earlier Monday, Jimbo Fisher said that Jenkins had the option to return in 2013 as a red-shirt senior, but that he was unsure what Jenkins would do. It is unknown whether Jenkins will be ready for the NFL combine, though he does have a lot of good tape to show NFL teams.
What do you think Kam and anybody else. Moore Vs Jenkins Who would you rather have?
BTW his injury is a liz frank injury _________________ The Dawgpounds new three headed monster!

I actually have Jenkins in my latest working mock. His best fit in the NFL is nickel rusher he can be a great one but still not an every down DE. It's not just his size but lack of technique and lower body strenght. He also seems to be rushing every play like he just doesn't read run/pass or maybe his speed is just running himself out of run plays. Either way not a starter but very effective nickel rusher. _________________

KT - no Anthony Barr in your list - are you assuming he doesn't declare?
I think hes a first rounder if he enters the draft this year, with top 10 potential next year. His speed, relentlessness, and production for a first year pass rusher amazes me. _________________
