Let's do this. Every week or two I'll create a new poll to rank Buffalo's all-time greats. It could make for the some good discussion and reminiscing. _________________

I went for Bruce. He owns the all time NFL sack record, played forever, was a freak of nature athlete, and all this from a 3-4 End. I still think he doesn't get as much recognition amongst the normal fan, but he is definitely #1 in my book. _________________

Excellent choice. I think I'm going to go with Simpson. His 143.1 yards per game in 1973 still stands as the best of all-time. His 129.8 yards per game in 1975 is fifth all-time. Buffalo had some abysmal teams during the 1970s as they had only one playoff appearance during the entire decade. During those years the Bills had nothing on defense and not a whole lot on offense. Simpson did have a great line (ie. Joe D), but with a lackluster passing game all defenses had to do was key-in on O.J. - yet he still ran all over team after team. He was the only Bills player named to the NFL's 75-Anniversary Team. It's a tough call (O.J. and Bruce are my #1 and #2), but you really can't go wrong with any of these Hall of Famers. _________________

That is what I have, but the reciprocal. I think O.J. did carry those teams he was on, what tilted me to Bruce was that he did everything from a 3-4 End, which is just astounding to me, I mean, think if he played 3-4 OLB or a 4-3 DE in his prime how much more dominant he might of been. I mean played in his prime at 262 lbs. just phenomenal . _________________

I agree. Fans in general overlook the fact that Bruce played in a 3-4 scheme. Neil Smith has the next most sacks all-time for a 3-4 end (104.5 for 21st all-time). Bruce has almost double that. _________________

I'm also going with Bruce. The 3-4 was my big reasoning as well. He may not have been Reggie White, but his durability, tenacity and production make him the best Bill of all time. _________________

You guys have pretty much said it all as far as my reasoning for picking Bruce. _________________

I voted for Thurman.
I really believe Thurman's versatility and his ability to catch and run was the key to what made the K-Gun so successful in the early 90s. I don't think it would have worked the same with nearly any other running back. |

This was a really tough vote for me between Bruce Thurman and Jimbo. All three had a special place for me and all three meant so much to this franchise. I ended up taking Bruce just because of the impact he had and how good he made everyone else around him. Hopefully we have the next Bruce Smith on the roster in Mario. _________________

Thomas was definitely awesome (led the league in yards from scrimmage for four consecutive years), but O.J. was not only the best pure runner in Bills history, he is also in the top five of all-time. _________________
