We always end up having a ton of Threads talking about who just got cut, let’s go get that guy, who is getting first team reps, who just got hurt, blah, bla-balh, bla-blah . . .
So this year lets put this all in one thread, Keep the board clean, and we wont have 8000 threads about these little things. (I know it will make RF28's life easier). With a Week left till the Rams Training Camp starts, I figured that its the perfect time to start this. Because 50 days later is Kickoff of our first game.
So what should we talk about in this thread:
All Rumors - Rams or otherwise
All Rams roster moves - Cuts & Signings
Cuts around the league - guys who you want us to go Pickup
Depth Chart discussions (aka the Denario Debate)
Discussion of any other teams Pre-season games or TCs
All miscellaneous non-Breaking News in the preseason
There is alot to dive into in the Next 60 days, And I am going to try and Keep these first few Pages Updated all the way through. To start it off here are some Important dates throughout the Pre-Season that every Fan should be aware of.
| Important Pre-Season Dates wrote: | July 23rd: Begining of First Training Camp (Arizona Cardinals)
July 24th: Rams Rookies report to Camp

Aug. 5: Hall of Fame Game: Arizona vs. New Orleans, Canton, Ohio, 8 p.m. ET
Aug. 28: Roster cutdown to 80 players
Sept. 2: Roster cutdown to 53 players.
Sept. 5: Regular-season opener: Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants, 8:30 p.m. (NBC) |
Im Hoping, and Expecting Some Epic Game threads by RF28, even in this preseason, so lets keep game discussions in those, But just so you have a refrence and can mark them down Here are the Rams matchups that dont count, but you still have to pay full price for...

So pumped! The only thing weighing down my excitement is the possibility that this could be Animal or Long's final season _________________

Not a rumor so much, but there is a chance that the Lions will release OLB Justin Durant. He's an effective 2 down linebacker, but nowadays many linebackers only see two downs so he may be a person of interest. _________________

Personally think he's more talented than McIntosh and Dunbar. _________________

I'm not going to post a link as even the article I read admitted that it is merely speculation. NFL.com ran the article yesterday or the day before.
But yeah, that would be a nice signing. Anyone have a cap number for us that is up to date? _________________

Thanks. There are still some roster cuts to take place. I'd bet that there will be some surprise names released by Fisher and company. While there are surprises every year, this coaching staff may have entirely different thoughts on players, certainly will have different schemes to fill, and lack any sort of investment or ties with the players on the roster.
Here is a list of the only players I believe are guaranteed to remain on our roster from the 2011 season:
QB-Bradford
RB-S-Jax
OT-Smith, Saffold
G-Dahl
WR-Amendola
TE-Kendricks
DE-Long, Quinn
MLB-J-L 55
S-Quinten Mikell
That's it folks. There are some guys that are likely to be kept, but not a lock. This team is going to look completely different this year. Thank god. _________________

There are more guys that I would concider Locks to be on the team who were here last year.
Kellen Clemens was the only veteran QB signed, with his history with Schotty hes gonna be the Backup to Sam. Greg Salas is as good as a lock. Assuming health Hoomanawanui is a lock, they didnt bring in a TE anywhere near his talent, and with Eldridge suspended there isnt much competition. I think Eugene Sims is a lock, He is clearly #4, but #5 isnt anywhere close. Josh Hull Id put in there too as the leader of ST and the Top backup LB we have. Stewart is more of a Lock than Mikell, and I would say Fletcher, Murphy and Gordy are all locks as well.
They brought in alot of guys, but not nearly as much as you seem to think.
On defense there are 2 spots open in the secondary, 1 or 2 open in the LB corps, and 1 open on the DL (liley coming form outside the Org) 25 spots total.
On the otherside, there is likely 1 or 2 spots on the OLine, 2 or 3 spots in the backfield (QB/RB/FB) depending on if we keep 3 rostered QBs, and probably 3 spots being fought over in the Receiving Corps (WR & TE) Likely 23 spots total.
Then you have your 3 specialists; Kicker, Punter, Long Snapper where the only competition is really at Punter. And the final 2 Roster spots come down to your special teams aces and can come from either side of the ball (your Dom Curry/Hoffman-Ellis types)
There are likely 15 open spots open going into camp, thats a good amount but not as much as you would think a team like last years would have. There easily 17 guys from last years team that I would call locks, and its more like 20. I get what you are saying, high turnover, but youre shorting alot of guys. |

Talking about surprise cuts, I really think Jerome Murphy will be this years big "surprise." Although it shouldn't be. _________________
