Sucks for him. It looked like he found a place to latch onto in Seattle, but old habits die hard. _________________

| He had an injury that was pretty bad, I think. He's had a hard time recovering from it in the offseason --- although there are things you can do to keep your weight off even with an injured leg. |

is it a fact that he was cut because he was out of shape? or is that still just speculation at this point? obviously it wouldn't come as a suprise if he let him self go again, i mean this is a guy who weighed 270 pounds at one point. But that may not be the case. They might have just cut him because they knew he wouldn't make their roster and they are releasing him early so he has time to try and find a new place to play.
and if that is the case, I wonder if anyone is going to give him a shot. _________________

IDK how some players do that. 40 pounds? Seems like you'd have to TRY and gain that much weight. I don't think I'd be able to if I tried. |

While I agree with a lot of posts here, it's still a shocker. _________________

| Wasn't there alot of talk about him playing TE when he became draft eligible? Probably would have had more success at that position but then again, a poor work ethic is a poor work ethic. |

Alright I hate to be that guy, but I really can’t find anything that is reporting that Mike Williams was cut because he was overweight. Nothing…not even an article written by a guy eating lunch at his cubicle who heard the rumor through an acquaintance of his 2nd cousin…twice removed.
I mean, like I said before…it would not exactly be shocking that Mike Williams was overweight. But let’s be patient here, there will be plenty of time to rip him apart when the facts come in. _________________

he was a nice comeback story in 2010, but his release today is his own fault. His poor work ethic led to this. Such a shame.
Seattle has a nice group of WRs though. Sidney Rice is pretty unpredictable. Golden Tate is built to be a slot WR, allthough he doesn't impress me that much. Doug Baldwin and Ricardo Lockette seem like absolute steals, and I wouldn't be surprised to see these 2 have big seasons.
Antonio Bryant will just be the new comeback story.
Williams days in the NFL are very numbered at this point. _________________

Holy Cow Damn, he'd be big for a TE there and probably closer to an OT's weight than most WRs _________________

There was one picture in paticular when he was mentoring some of the young guys. He had a BIG ol' gut on him. You could see he obviously had gained a lot of weight in the offseason. |

| His "breakout year" (according to the op) wasn't impressive to begin with. He's a fringe talent. No separation skill, no run after the catch ability, and a lousy deep threat. Heavy or not. |

Well yes, you're right, that's all true, but let's at least give Big Mike credit for begin pleasingly plump and having a jolly fat man's disposition.
If he is unable to make a comeback as a tight end or a mammoth right tackle (dependent on the ceiling of his weight gain), perhaps he could be a funny fat costumed mascot roaming the sidelines and falling down like a sand-bottomed doll in theatrical woe when the Seahawks give up a touchdown. |

When you're putting in as much work as a NFL player does, you have to take in a lot of food. So if you continue eating like that, and then go lazy during the offseason, the pounds pack on quick. _________________

Pretty much. He's been looking pretty chunky on the Real Rob Report but I just wanted to believe that the camera added 20 pounds
Mike Williams is one of my favorite Seahawks ever despite only being here a year because he played WR the way I love watching it played. It's seriously a shame he can't keep his weight down.
So yes, all of you can come at me now for how much I've defended BMW in the past. I'm just a depressed Seahawk fan today
imani makes a great point though that I hadn't even considered. Antonio Bryant could be a big piece for us this season. And if not him, look out for my boy Channel 83 aka Ricardo Lockette. |
Pete Carroll made you sad? I guess he's not such a bad guy after all
Honestly though I am surprised by this. I felt he could have been a safety blanket for Flynn while he was adjusting to the new system. But now I guess the BMW stands for Big Macs and Whoppers. I know it has to be hard to stay in NFL shape, but come on dude...I'd run miles on the treadmill and hit the weights every day if millions of dollars were on the line. _________________
