Gregg Rosenthal wrote:
The Jacksonville Jaguars aren't wasting any time. They were officially the first team to make a move on "Black Monday," sending out a press release at 8:10 a.m. ET announcing they have parted ways with general manager Gene Smith.

"I met with Gene Smith this morning to inform him of my decision to go in a new direction and thank him for his dedication to the Jaguars since the inception of the franchise," owner Shahid Khan said in a statement. "I am personally appreciative for his efforts during my first season of ownership in the NFL.

"Gene is a good man with a long career ahead of him in football, and I know this season was as difficult for him as anyone with our organization. I sincerely wish Gene and his family the very best, today and always."

I don't think this comes as a surprise to anyone.

I may be wrong, but I think Gene was the last piece of the group that was first put together at this team's inception.

The fate of coach Mike Mularkey remains uncertain. He is scheduled to meet with the media as usual on Monday. It is likely that the next general manager will decide whether or not to retain Mularkey.

While I don't like it, think Gene should have stayed Scouting person - but Peter Principaled himself - The rumor that has picked up steam since last week is, Tom Gamble and Greg Roman coming here with Chryst and an unnamed DC, also rumored from the NFL West.

Now that we finally got rid of Gene, I'm about to go down to Everbank and beg Mr. Khan to hire me.

Jets and Jaguars have asked permission from San Francisco to interview 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble for their GM jobs.

I couldn't see Gamble choosing the Jets considering the mess they're in cap wise and QB wise.

You guys are just as much a mess QB wise, if not worse, and especially if your GM makes you bring Tebow in.
