| Quote: | | The dismissal of club president Joe Banner resulted in a power grab by Reid in Philadelphia, and he's now considered perhaps the NFL's most powerful head coach, along with Bill Belichick in New England. Owner Jeffrey Lurie "will not fire him," Schefter wrote. "When the time comes for Reid to go, whenever that is, it will be because he opts to go, not because the Eagles tell him to go." |
Many have speculated that if the Eagles don't make some noise this season, that Lurie could be giving Big Red the axe after the year. But after Joe Banner's departure, Reid's position has obviously strengthened within the organization. This is the first public comment to be released about this particular subject, and offers some stability to Reid's employment past the 2012 campaign. _________________

Reid should just buy Lurie out ! And fire Roseman.
I think Reid is a goner if the team don't win enough this year. _________________

While I'm not an Eagles fan, I follow Philly as closely as I do Denver being from the area. I have maintained over the past few seasons that Andy Reid needs to be axed. He's a tremendous coach, and has taken Philly to a level that they hadn't reached in awhile, especially through a prolonged period of sucking.
That being said, even the best coaches sometimes have to go. When the message gets stale and the team is stagnant, that's when you bring someone else in. Denver did it to Shanahan, and it was unsuccessful, but that's cause they brought in the wrong guy. Bringing in the right guy can absolutely put this team over the hump. _________________

Andy Reid is a great coach
Bill Cowher won his first Super Bowl in his 14th year.....Tom Coughlin won his first Super Bowl in his 11th year
I have no doubt that Reid can win a super bowl. _________________

IMO he didn't take advantage of a weak NFC. That team should have 1 SB right now. They were one of a few constants in the NFC.
Now the NFC is stacked, and I don't see him ever winning the big one. _________________

Reid just seems stubborn sometimes to change his gameplan. Look no further than their game against Minnesota in 2010. _________________

Andy is only ever on the hot-seat by the fans and media. The FO of the Eagles loves him, and he won't go anywhere for a few years - if he'd like. _________________

I'm gonna learn that Edson Barboza spinning heel kick, and proceed to do the same to everyone in the Eagles ownership group if we have a similar season and Reid isn't canned. _________________

I don't know, I just can't see that as the truth. I think if he can get the team back to the post-season( and I think he will ) then his job is safe, but if they post another 8-8 or worse season...I would expect a coaching change in Philly.
of course if they do miss the post-season and Reid keeps his job...I will gladly admit that I was wrong. _________________

You'd need to replace him with a better coach...
So who would that be people?!?
He's a great coach. He just screwed up letting an Oline coach become D cord. |

The message isn't stale and players are still eager and wanting to join the Eagles as of late. Everyone in camp has the right attitude and are all really focused because they are buying into the program and the message that is being put out by Andy and the Front Office.
Also, the problem with the bolded part is that finding the right coach isn't easy at all. Pick the wrong coach and now you're picking top 10. Lurie would much rather be a playoff or at least fringe playoff team every year than maybe get a better coach or be picking top 10. Picking top 10 doesn't make you money. Period.
Plus, Andy Reid is a players coach and the players love to play for him. _________________

Which is why I cannot understand every year people wanting Reid fired.

In Dallas, New York and Philadelphia, the coaches are always on the hot seat, except when you have just won the super bowl _________________
