It was hard to decide who to pick here mainly because if we are selecting first overall then most likely that means Blaine Gabbert is not the answer. However, I'm going to choose not to look at it that way. I don't want to go QB this high, so I'm going to look at it as how I expect the team to look after this upcoming season and just ignore where we are in the order.

With all that said...

with their first round selection, and technically the #1 overall selection of the 2013 National Football League draft, the Jacksonville Jaguars select...

David Amerson, CB, North Carolina State

There were a few guys that I considered here, but after looking at everything, Amerson seemed like the best fit for us.

With the 3rd Overall Pick in the 2013 NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins select:

Robert Woods WR, USC

The Dolphins lack a true number one wideout. Chad Johnson is no longer the threat he used to be, Davone Bess is better suited as a slot receiver and I don't think Hartline can really be relied upon as the #2 guy either.

With Woods, Tannehill and Miami get a polished receiver who is used to a pro-style offense. Woods has been described as an excellent route-runner with speed to burn, making him perfect for the style of offense Joe Philbin utilizes.

With the 2nd selection in the 2013 NFL Draft...

...The Cleveland Browns select:

Jarvis Jones, LB/DE, Georgia

wrote:
The Cleveland Browns go with the #1 defensive prospect available in the entire draft, Jarvis Jones. Although going Keenan Allen, the #1 offensive prospect, here was tempting, we feel the drop-off in pass rushing talent is more than the drop off in WR talent in the late 1st, early 2nd round. Therefor the Browns go with the biggest impact defender, Jones, who will immediately step-in at SLB, moving to DE on pass rushing situations. This will allows Frostee Rucker to be used in a pure situational role, which he thrives in. This pick also allows some flexibility to flash back into 34 looks, with Sheard opposite Jones and a defensive line of Rucker - Rubin - Taylor.

With the 4th pick in the 2013 NFL Draft...

...The St. Louis Rams select:

wrote:
Although the DT, Star, was tempting here (which would give the Rams the most talented DL in the league), I felt pairing Allen up with Quick was far more important to the development of Bradford, and ultimately the team as a whole. Allen can come in and immediately serve as Bradford's top target, as I feel he is the best WR in this class. Although Quick certainly looks like a 50+ catch, 800+ yard WR year-in and year-out, I didn't think he and Chris Givens were enough for the future. Now with these three, plus some more picks I'll have later in the draft, the Rams can look at finally sending an extremely talented cast of offensive players to play with Bradford.

With the 6th pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select...

Star Lotulelei, NT, Utah

We are so excited to add a physical presence such as Star to our defensive line. We have had a gaping hole at the nose tackle spot since Pat Williams left (no pun intended), and we are confident that Star can step right in and start right away. With skilled veterans such as Kevin Williams and Jared Allen on either side of him to mentor him, we feel he will be able to reach his full potential in no time and return our defensive line to its rightful place as the top line in the league.

The San Francisco 49ers select XAVIER RHODES - CB/FS - FLORIDA STATE UNIVERSITY

The Niners are thrilled to add a player with the size and talent that Rhodes will bring to our secondary. He is a special athlete who has the ability to be a shut down CB in this league. With Rodgers aging, Rhodes can come in and be groomed for a year and then eventually take over.

The Seattle Seahawks take WR Justin Hunter from the University of Tennessee with the 9th overall pick.

Quote:
He is an explosive guy that gives us a vertical threat we need in the future. He will also give aid to our starting QB Matt Flynn for the future. On top of that Justin is a great kid with high character and will fit in our locker room very well.

With the 13th Pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, the Dallas Cowboys select:

Johnathan Hankins NT, Ohio State

The Cowboys have seemingly been neglecting the NT position the last few years by not drafting a single player at the position, even in a backup role to former All-Pro Jay Ratliff.

"The Rat" will be turning 32 heading into the 2013 season, and I don't think Josh Brent is exactly the long-term answer at the position...at least as a starter. Hankins is one of the top prospects in all of college football at his position and is an excellent run-defender and a perfect prospect to plug in as a zero-tech nose guard at the NFL level.

With the 14th pick in the NFL draft....

The San Diego Chargers Select....

Johnthan Banks Cornerback, Mississippi State

Banks was the last of the great CBs on the board, and with Jammer slowing down, we need a #1 CB to replace him. In steps Banks. He is every bit the athlete that you want as a CB, and is great in all areas of coverage giving us tons of scheme versatility. Adding bulk will be necessary, but with his 6'2" frame, we're confident that he will be able to add the necessary weight.
